Knowing that certain characters are leaving changes the perception of every scene they are in. Not a fan of exits at times it has been tough to digest their situations.
Three characters are leaving the show. And in the case of Theresa, the original actor has returned but will also be leaving to be replaced by Emily O'Brien who plays Gwen. Gwen of course is exiting the show. The contract handling of Lilley was butchered and their seemed to be some miscommunication about the length of her stay. Lilley had declined a long term offer but she felt they cut short her stay, nonetheless.
All of these changes make me wonder how these characters will exit. In Gabi's case I expect a violent ending, but I can't be 100% certain. Whatever the case what happens to Stefan after Gabi is gone?
Don't have a clue on how Days will handle Belle's exit. Total mystery. Even if she breaks up with Shawn her parents John and Marlena are in town, so it is a stretch to think Belle just up and leaves Salem.
Hard to tell whether Days has painted Gwen into a corner or not but apparently the Days brass has decided that the British character must go. And from what I have heard Emily O ' Brien is not happy with the decision and rumor has it she isn't too pleased to take over the mantle of Theresa from Jenn Lilley either. We know one thing; O'Brien will have to ditch her deep frothy English accent. And with Gwen leaving where does that leave Leo, her bestie and Xander her former lover?
Martha Madison left on her own accord, but rumors suggest she was unhappy with her story arcs which looking back seemed a bit butchered at times.
Camila Banus who plays Gabi basically wanted a change of scenery ala Alison Sweeney who plays Sami.
While I bemoan Belle's departure, I am truly upset that Gabi and Gwen are leaving.
Now this is Salem so the possibility always exists that Belle, Gwen and or Gabi could all return someday. I'll hold out hope for that.
Oddly Jack and Jennifer haven't been seen in ages. Are they officially gone too?

Spoiler I have heard from several sources that Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) will be leaving the show too. Since JPL's stint as Philip is a limited run, I am going to speculate that Philip and Chloe will leave together. Bittersweet for this diehard Jay/Nadia fan to get a faux Phloe happily ever after.

I think Belle will.go visit Claire for a while. Either that or go off somewhere with Shawn while he has rehab elsewhere.

I heard this rumor a while ago to but there's been no official announcement which is driving me nuts. And JPL's run is so short that it doesn't make sense that it hasn't been confirmed yet. |

I fully expect Gabi to be presumed dead, but she will be seen on an island trying to figure out how to get back. Gabi needs a funny/sassy ending, and not a permanent death.
I don't know how I feel about Gwen being Theresa.
Belle will likely be visiting Claire. I'd be okay if Shawn/Belle go off screen until a more suitable story can be written for the couple.

I hope it's true because I don't like her, but I have a feeling she'll be around for some time to come. |

I think the actress who plays Sloan has renewed, so she's staying. Camila, Martha, and the actress who plays Talia are confirmed to be leaving. There is no announcement yet on Nadia or Emily. Spoilers for the next few weeks seem to confirm Nadia's departure. Emily is complicated. Because Gwen is leaving but she's coming back to play Theresa to the confusion of everyone. I don't know what the drama is with Jen Lilley. So I have no idea what's up with Emily and whether or not she's leaving after she wraps up Theresa's storyline. |

I don't dislike Emily O'Brien, but Jen Lilley brings such a spark to the role and the show that I'm disappointed she won't be staying.
I just hope none of the characters leaving are getting killed off. Victor's death was so well done, likely because the show was honoring not just the character but John Aniston, too. But watching characters grieve for someone I know will likely be back and magically alive within a year has grown tedious.

I’m starting to wonder if Dimitri inadvertently kills Gabi and Gwen instead of Gabi and Stefan…or maybe he even does it on purpose, kill two birds with one stone so to speak.

Out of the box clever thinking and that thought never occurred to me. Gwen is leaving we just don't know when. Same with Gabi. Maybe your scenario is what plays out which would be rather wild. I wouldn't like it though for it would mean Gwen would never return. Will then again never say never on this show. On the subject of Emily who plays Gwen I heard she was unhappy transitioning over to play Theresa. And it is very weird since the original Theresa has returned for a stint. Don't know if Theresa will become a permanent character. And good point above by fluffysmom wondering if there will be any women left at this rate. |
