Days of our Lives, NBC/Global — More DAYS for Drake?
• Soap Opera Digest editor extraordinaire Stephanie Sloane caught up with Drake Hogestyn in this week’s issue for a revealing interview. Does Drake miss Salem? Hoagie expressed, “I miss playing John. It’s been a long time now; you never know. There was actually a little bit of talk last summer, briefly, and it was something floating around. They’ve got a full plate over there, a full canvas, with outstanding talent and they’re doing quite well.”

Well, that’s a matter of opinion.

Hogestyn also revealed that his father, Bill, passed away. I was lucky to meet Senior Hogestyn on last year’s Soap Cruise … but when there’s death, there’s life: Hoagie became a grandfather recently, too. Congrats!

Professionally, Hoagie’s busy: he’s doing theatre, and working on a web series with Tristan Rogers. And, just like Deidre Hall, Hogestyn is writing a book, which he says has already generated publishing interest! Can’t wait.

That would be great but without Marlena? The DOOL way is to break up the a couple & I don't want that to happen... So he has to come back with Deidre!!

I wouldn't mind John Black coming back, but I don't want Marlena back. Sorry, but if you want to talk about frustrating women of Days, she's my #1.

I enjoyed Marlena and John but I don't think it would bother me for them to be apart. I also think that Sami could really, really use Marlena right about now. Even if she just came to visit for a couple of weeks!

Trey, I agree. This is the only supercouple that I would be tempted to want only one side of the pair to return. I'm not a Marlena fan either. Of course with Days, I'm always mindful of the "be careful what you wish for" catch. I can only imagine what ridiculous storyline they would try to force John into if Marlena wasn't around so I guess it would be worth having her back just to spare John.... plus, maybe if Marlena came back, Sami could finally just be Sami again instead of this fauxMarlena role she's been tryig to carry ever since they went to Switzerland.

@ Kazz, if it helps Sami buy a clue, then I'd welcome Marlena back for the short term. However, she was never really good at keeping Sami in line.

But, I loved watching Drake as NuJohn, Roman, or regular John. When he was a stranger, a Brady, and Alimain, a DiMera, etc., he was always fun.

It's not the "keeping in line" that I'm interested in. It's the doing away with the Marlena-esque role Sami has been playing since Marlena's departure. It doesn't suit her at all. I think I liked John as NuJohn best but I'd like to have him back in Salem in pretty much any capacity (and yet I'm fearful that Dena & Gary would manage to find one of the few ways I'd hate). My favorite pairing for him was with Isabella, but I think if he came back without Marlena, we'd likely see a John/Taylor pairing. Tamara and Drake had good chemistry as Ava and NuJohn.
