What do you think of Dan Feuerriegel's EJ, now that he's been in the role for well over a year.
I love him. It's so ironic because I detested Jame's Scott's EJ, perhaps in part because of his involvement with Sami who I hate even more.
Dan has humanized EJ. He has a sense of humor and far more morality than EJ used to have. I enjoy his scenes, even with characters I'm not wild about. He makes the other characters/actors more watchable.
Great recast.
What are your thoughts?

I agree that Dan is a great recast. I was neutral about James Scott. I never saw EJ and Sami as a great love story. They were so mid-matched.

As much as I hate EJ, I liked James Scott in the role. He played the suave playboy very well when he first came to Salem but once they linked him to the Dimera's, that's where the character went downhill. James Scott is easy on the eyes and I believe could have been a very good multi-dimensional character had the writers at the time not been so obsessed with making him the next Dimera villain.
I agree, I didn't like him with Sami and didn't really care for him with Nicole, but by that time I believe that James Scott was locked into the nastiness that the writers made EJ and he never really got a chance to break free from it.
I don't dislike Dan in the role, but I still haven't really warmed up to him as EJ. Dan came in under new writers, a new face, and new storylines that gave him the chance to "revamp" EJ to make him more multi-dimensional and more acceptable to the viewers. There are still scenes where I don't feel that his facial expressions put the full emotional pull that was intended for the scene and I catch myself picturing how James Scott's EJ would have done with line or his actions. Dan's EJ has done some underhanded things, but not near the extent that James Scott's EJ did so I think that also factors into the likeableness of the new EJ.
Overall, I don't think Dan has done a bad job with EJ but I haven't warmed up to him as much as I would like to have at this point. But, EJ was never really a favorite of mine so putting a lot of effort into getting behind the character hasn't been on the top of my list either. I do miss the eye candy and James Scott's accent but I couldn't stand the nastiness of his EJ towards women. Dan's EJ is a little more tolerable there.

I liked James Scott as EJ from the start. The character was far from perfect, but always entertaining. (And I'm a sucker for a British accent.) So, I was unsure how I’d like the recast. But Dan (and perhaps the writers) have brought new dimensions to EJ this time around and I love it. He can still be annoyingly arrogant and controlling, but he has more self-awareness and vulnerability now.
Dan seems to really enjoy this role. (You can always kind of tell when an actor is getting bored or not enjoying what he’s doing.) And he has chemistry with EVERYBODY! And I don’t just mean romantic chemistry. Even characters I'm generally not fond of (such as Susan and Rafe), I enjoy when they’re in a scene with Dan. EJ and Johnny also have a fantastic albeit complicated father son dynamic that has grown on me.
Oddly enough, the only person I haven’t completely enjoyed him with is Sami. But I’m hoping against hope that they’ll allow EJ to really move on from Sami. Fingers crossed.

I think Dan Feuerriegel's EJ adds a more human layer. I like him. He has chemistry with practically everyone (except ironically Sami), and he seems very relatable and layered. I liked James Scott in the role, but sometimes I think he got fed up with some of the lines (like he wasn't enjoying the part or his job). But, I think Dan is more playful and brings more life into the role.
I'm also biased as I'm not an EJ/Sami fan, and Dan and Alison do not have chemistry together.
