I think the meaning of contract status is different than it used to be. I don't view this as Allie is going to be leaving Salem. She doesn't have much story right now so it makes sense that she doesn't have a mandated number of episodes to be onscreen each week.
I wonder if it was the show's decision or her decision. Maybe the actress wants the opportunity to do other things while her character isn't being featured in a big story right now.
I don't know why the writers pushed Allie and Chanel into a serious living together relationship so quickly. They could have had more story if it had taken longer for them to get to that point.
