Dear Ron, Ha
Salem needs its villains and Kristen has been one of the best through the years. But the past several years there has been a gnawing sense the character was boxed in as a head down baddie without eliciting much empathy whatsoever. In shorter doses this is tolerable, but this has been going on with Kristen for some time now.
And her latest escapade with the orchid is probably her most abhorrent ever since it seemingly has led to two and possibly three deaths. Well deaths as in maybe deaths. Her nastiness and unsavory ways have reached the breaking point now. The character has reached a Cul-de-sac.
Which is why Days would be smart to have her murdered.
But I have a caveat. I think the actor, Stacy Haiduk, is terrific. And while I don't like her turn as Susan if Kristen is murdered, I would be upset if Haiduk left the show.
There is a simple solution to all this. Bring back Haiduk as an entirely different character. It has worked rather well with Robert Scott Wilson transitioning from Ben to Alex. Haiduk could easily make that transition as well. I like her and she is talented, so this move has nothing to do with the actor herself.
What would make the murder fascinating is the long list of possible killers which amazingly could reach up to a whopping, I kid you not, total of sixteen suspects. She has assembled a long list of enemies over the years.
The Charlie murder was a rather botched affair with a disappointing revelation. Cheap amateurism pervaded the storyline.
Abigail's murder was presented much better and offered more intrigue and was fairly suspenseful to follow but it all deteriorated in a rushed and almost cop out ending with Clyde being revealed as the killer.
A Kristen murder would give Days a chance to make amends for their past handlings of murder. It seemed they learned something from the Charlie murder and made improvements with Abby's demise. But now they have to finish the job where we don't feel cheated.
Days loves their murder mysteries as do I. This one could be a real winner.

Kristen has become unredeemable. I agree that there's no way for her to go, though she is a DiMera baddie. If she had something to focus on other than Brady, she would be interesting. She was once a layered character (a sinner trying to find redemption) but now she's one note and obsessed with one thing. A murder mystery would be nice, and the killer could be her estranged brother, Peter Blake!
