Welcome back!!! It’s a new season of Dancing with the Starssssssss!!!Ok. I’m afraid I was unable to watch most of the show last night. Family in town, yada yada yada. BUT, here are the videos for each of the routines. I won’t go into detail with my reviews, but I will give an overall impression (good, bad, awesome, awesomely bad, etc.). So here we go! (These are in order from highest judges score to lowest)
Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas (She’s an opera singer in England) –
FOXTROT - 26
Overall impression: Has promise. Very pretty. Needs to learn proper footwork.
Jaleel White (aka Steve Urkel) and Kym Johnson –
FOXTROT – 26
Overall impression: So smooth!!! Loved watching him. Adorable!! Can’t wait to see what happens next week when he has a rhythm/latin dance.
William Levy (the hottest man EVER) and Cheryl Burke –
CHA CHA – 24
Overall impression: Oh. My. God.
He is too hot for words. He did move well though, so I’m sure he’ll be around for a long time (Thank you Jesus!!!) even though he has the bitch-monster from hell. Why does Cheryl always get the hot guys?!?!?
Roshon Fagan (random Disney kid) and Chelsie Hightower –
CHA CHA – 23
Overall impression: Ehh. Has rhythm. But I don’t care for him.
Gladys Knight (actual star!!) and Tristan MacManus –
CHA CHA – 23
Overall impression: TRISTAN!!!!!!! YAY!!!! Oh, and Gladys was nice too.
Actually, she was really good, for being 67 and obviously terrified. Kudos to her. She should be around for a good while.
Sherri Shepherd (from The View) and Val Chmerkovskiy –
FOXTROT – 23
Overall impression: Ok. I’m admitting this from the start. I dislike Sherri Shepherd immensely, so she could have been perfection and I would still not like it. Oh, and I hate Val too. He’s the DNA that was left over after Max was born. Sloppy seconds, at best. Having said that, I grudgingly admit that it wasn’t a
terrible routine. It wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t going-home-the-first-week bad. We’ll see how long she’s around.
Jack Wagner (aka Frisco of Frisco and Felicia) and Anna Trebunskaya –
FOXTROT – 23
Overall impression: Well done!! He looked a bit nervous (but, hey, it’s the first night) but his footwork was spot on. If he can relax, I think he’ll be great!
Donald Driver (football player) and Peta Murgatroyd –
CHA CHA – 21
Overall impression: Um, can someone please tell Peta to calm down? Geez!!! It was hard to see Donald through all the hair flipping and arm flapping. Honey. It’s not about YOU. As for Donald, he looks good with the rhythm/latin Cha Cha, but let’s see him do a smooth Waltz or Foxtrot.
Maria Menounos (the entertainment “reporter”) and Derek Hough –
CHA CHA – 21
Overall impression: Apparently she was first of the night, so you KNOW she was scared poopless. And I’m afraid she’s going to fall into the “model that has no control of her body” category. She really was not good. Not nearly as good as the 21 score suggests. They must have taken pity on her since she was the first. Bless her heart.
Gavin Degraw (singer) and Karina Smirnoff –
FOXTROT – 20
Overall impression: I know Gavin wears a hat all the time, but, honey, if you’re bald, EMBRACE IT! You can’t keep dancing with a hat on. It looks silly. Otherwise, the routine was…ok. He was really stiff in the beginning, but when he relaxed, he got sloppy. Gotta find that happy medium, dude.
Melissa Gilbert (from “Little House on the Prairie”) and Maksim Chmerkovskiy –
CHA CHA – 20
Overall impression: MAKS!!!!!!!!! Oh, and some red head chick. Nah, just kidding. Um, can we take a moment to enjoy long-haired Maks? Mmmmmm. Nice. It was only on for a hot second, but then he apparently got a haircut. Dang it. As for Melissa, she looked a bit stiff (nervous?) but was otherwise decent. But decent doesn’t win giant Mirrorball trophies. Mmmmm. Maks. Balls. He he he.
Martina Navratilova (tennis star) and Tony Dovolani –
FOXTROT – 20
Overall impression: Ladies and gentlemen, we have our sacrificial lamb for season 14. Bless her heart.
Too stiff, NOT graceful and destined to leave the first week. She seems lovely though.
SEASON 14 OVERALL IMPRESSION: This should be an interesting season. It looks like there’s the possibility for high competition – lots of folks have promise. Let’s just see how they do a few weeks from now.
KEEP ON DANCING Y’ALL!!
