Sonny was stabbed, and Leo's everyone's prime suspect, but did he do it, or is he being framed? heroicmuse and I are joined by silvananoir1 to debate who attacked Sonny, Chloe lecturing Nicole, if Alex is flirty or creepy, and who is the most mismatched couple in Salem.

Enjoyed the Roundtable and some of the quotes "Chad in a fugue state."
Topsy turvy and somewhat confusing week. I still feel Days is raining confusion on us before things start to slowly reveal themselves. Material pinged back and forth between terrible (the damsels in distress kidnapping, Sonny stabbing and Alex) and pretty good (Chloe, Rafe, Jada and the DiMera board drama.)
As I mentioned in another post this week's blurbs don't make me think Days is heading for a giant cliffhanger before the Peacock premiere although one blurb caught my eye due to its strangeness.
All I can say is so far, this mystery, despite some issues, is levels above the Charlie murder which had very little intrigue.

Good column. I think Gwen is worse than Leo for sure, but I still have hope for Gwen. I just do. Maybe because the actress is so compelling, I can't quite bear to let her go just yet. Alex is just gross to me. Like 2 steps off from being a sex offender gross. No means no, "bro", as he would say. I have no idea who attacked Sonny or Abby at this point, and usually I always can guess whodunnit. I am an Agatha Christie fan! lol
Mismatched pairings. Hmm, there's a few on the show right now, but I'm going with Nicole/Rafe. IMO, they had a lot of potential but the way they got together killed a lot of the excitement for me, and now Nicole is treating him like he's pond scum. She's officially become an unlikeable character & it sucks because she used to be one of my favorites.
There was a comment about how Rafe's pairings never go over well, and I want to point out that's not necessarily true. Jordan/Rafe had some fans. Chrishell (Jordan) posted on Twitter about them sending in cupcakes and goodies to the studio in support of the pairing. Then there was Sami and Rafe. While Rafe has lost a lot of his popularity over the years, I do remember when he first came on the show, a good number of fans actually did like his romance with Sami (Safe was a thing and they were holding their own in polls with EJami) because it was something fresh and new. I really think they need someone like Sami for Rafe, someone who challenges him and keeps him on his toes. Or they should bring on Rafe's long-lost fiancée Emily who was presumed dead.
Anyway, sorry I got long-winded. It was a great article and just really got me thinking lol

I think Emily O'Brien has the kind of versatility to turn Gwen into a, I don't want to get carried away here but, a relatively decent person. But frankly I have no idea whatsoever what Days has in store for her. I also agree Alex gives me the shivers. He is borderline when it comes to being a sexual predator and while he hasn't done something to quite cross that line, I can't say I fully trust him at this point. His interruption of Stephanie and Leo really got my gall. Damn drip.They were hitting it off with their loose and free and easy conversation and it occurred to me that Days isn't very adept at showing younger people just letting it rip with sardonic humor and youthful exuberance. Too often they write for the younger folk in a stilted halting manner. Missing the essence of the high as a kite style that often accompanies young people at play. |
