Orpheus abducted Marlena and Kayla (nothing new there). Li Shin stopped Stefan from reaching Gabi. Ava sparred with EJ, while Leo turned on Gwen once again. heroicmuse and I are joined by mikey to debate Orpheus' plan, whether there is really heat between Ava and EJ, if a threesome spells doom for Chanel and Allie, who is their favorite couple in Salem right now, and more!

Great Roundtable in what was again a very busy interesting week. "You lie down with dogs, you get fleas" a howler from mikey describing Gwen being stabbed in the back by Leo.
I wonder if that is the final straw that Gwen needs to change her ways. Ludicrous question I know but could it be the trigger that finally leads Gwen to the road of redemption? Then again, she might see the light right before she is electrocuted, barring a last second reprieve. This is a Soap you know.
The blurbs from NBC for this week seem a touch low key but I imagine next week, their last ever on NBC will lead to a crescendo full of fireworks and cliffhangers.

A really great round table. I always agree with a lot of what is being said. And I agree a lot of the couples aren't lighting my fire right now. In fact, the only one I'm vaguely interested in is Chad/Stephanie and I think that's not going to happen for some time if it even happens at all. Chad needs to grieve for sure, but I think Stephanie is meant for the underwear model Alex anyway.

"Underwear model" is an apt description of Alex who has exhibited as much depth as a kiddie wading pool. I'm at the point where I prefer, he stay the course. I cringe thinking about this guy having a "real" relationship. Seems out of character and forced. And I too am not excited by the coupling going on right now. Now with Jake dead I can't think of anything lighting the world on fire. And I am not on board with the possible Ava and EJ pairing either, albeit I'm not certain that will happen anyway. I have a few couple matchups that might light up the sky, one of them is the eventual "semi" return of Jake with Ava but that is a mighty stretch. Jake is dead. I have an even more far out one than that, but it is way too early to bring it up. At least Xander and Sarah are cute together. What is lacking though is a real passionate relationship with fire in the belly. High romanticism. A believable couple in a perpetual fever. Try as they might in that direction Eric and Nicole are more stale leftovers than anything else. I can think of couples i wouldn't mind breaking up though including Brady and Chole, Li and Gabi, Chanel and Allie and Nicole and Eric. Oops the last one hasn't happened yet. Sure right. Ha. |

Nicole and Eric are far past their expiration/sell by date and I say that as someone who used to be a fan back in the day. Please put the pairing - and the viewers - out of misery.

I still like Eric and Nicole and feel that they're each other's true loves, but that's a pairing with a LOT of mileage on it. They'd be wise to move through this quadrangle quickly, reunite them, and start telling stories that center on them being a couple. We've done the back-and-forth enough, and Nicole can't even pretend she's into Rafe now that Eric is back.
