The Mike/Carrie/Austin love triangle on DAYS OF OUR LIVES had fans offering their two cents' worth on the future of the threesome. Most were rooting for the Carrie and Mike pairing, discarding Carrie and Austin like yesterday's news. "I do believe in the sanctity of marriage, but I would love to see Carrie dump Austin in favor of Mike," one shares. Another enthusiast declares, "Mike and Carrie are fun, fresh, sexy and a real treat to watch." Pity poor Austin? No way! Viewers think a rebound romance with Sami will leave all parties satisfied: "Austin is always running to Sami's side. I think he has deep feelings for her than he lets on."

Such good stuff. And I love that letter in SOD. I totally agree about Mike and Carrie! And yep, I do believe Austin cared for Sami a lot more than he let on because he was always, forever running to her side. They should have let Mike and Carrie be endgame.

It was James E. Reilly(God rest his soul) that changed things five years later. The Mike/Carrie/Austin storyline came from Sally Sussman Morina(Co-head writer with Jim Reilly from November 21, 1997 – January 5, 1998 and head writer from January 8, 1998 – October 14, 1999). I say originally because, if you recall, they left the show together in one of the most romantic fairytale endings I've seen or come across on day time television. |

Considering what happens later, the first half of what Roark says on this page from "Days of Our Lives: The Complete Family Album: A 30th Anniversary Celebration" is very interesting. Thanks for these. I wasn't watching at this time yet. I didn't really get into soaps until the respective teen scenes started. So Days first where I paid way more attention to what was going on there and Passions. I know that Mike and Carrie were popular but it's nice to see why. I enjoy these and honestly they have way more chemistry then Carrie and Austin.
