Tripp is watching a baseball game when there’s a knock at the door. He says there’s someone at the door, but nobody responds. Tripp turns off the game and opens the door to find Steve and Kayla. They hug each other, and Tripp tells Joey and Stephanie to come out. Stephanie walks in from another room saying she was working but is excited to see her parents. Joey walks out wearing headphones and doesn’t see Steve and Kayla until he turns around. Joey is happy to see them and asks why they didn’t tell anyone they were coming. Kayla says they wanted it to be a surprise. Steve talks about how great it is to have all the Johnsons together again. He initiates a group hug and family selfie. Tripp says he’s not 100% yet after the fall, but he’s much better than he was. Steve says that Joey looks different than the last time they saw each other. Joey says he cut his hair, and Kayla thinks it looks great. Stephanie is on the phone and tells someone to keep her updated. Steve asks her to get off the phone so they can get this reunion started. Stephanie makes an excuse about how she never gets a day off, since she runs her own PR business, but Steve points out that he runs his own business, too, and he took time off, too. Stephanie puts the phone on silent to show her parents around the city. Tripp asks what inspired them to visit. Steve mentions that John went to visit Paul, which made them want to see their kids. He talks about how John works all the time, and hopes he lets his hair down a bit and has fun with Paul. The family returns from seeing the city. Steve says that every stop was weirder than the last. Joey says he didn’t want to show them the tourist-y stuff, so, among other things, he showed them the Fremont Troll, though he promises to take them to the tourist-y stuff like the Space Needle tomorrow. Stephanie asks if anyone’s hungry, and Joey suggests going to a diner that’s in a purportedly haunted train car. Kayla suggests they order in pizza. The family are playing a board game. Kayla gets a biology question, which Steve thinks is unfair. The kids joke that maybe Steve’s next question will be about international espionage. There’s a knock at the door, which Tripp answers. It’s Michaels, now posing as a pizza delivery man. Joey wants to check the pizzas to make sure they’re right. Michaels asks if they’re expecting company. Stephanie says they ordered five pizzas because none of them like the same toppings. Joey hands out the pizzas, and he and Tripp comment that Stephanie’s choice of pineapple is wrong. Michaels says he’ll wait to make sure everything’s right. Tripp gives the last pizza to Steve. Steve got a pizza with jalapenos, and Tripp jokes about grabbing the fire extinguisher. Steve says a little fire never hurt anyone and looks suspiciously at Michaels. Steve goes to open his pizza, and a bomb inside the box goes off. Tripp puts out the fire caused by the bomb. Stephanie is lying on the ground. Kayla checks her and says they need to get her to the hospital. Joey notices that Steve isn’t there. Outside, Michaels puts an unconscious Steve into a van with John, who is also knocked out. Michaels speaks to a woman (who we can’t clearly see) on the phone, telling her that he’s got both packages. The woman says it’ll be a Black Patch reunion, and that he knows what to do next. Michaels confirms that he’s on his way. He hangs up and shuts the door to the van. He eats a piece of Stephanie’s pizza, agreeing with Joey that pineapple on pizza is a crime against humanity. Then he gets in the van and drives off. Stephanie is lying in a hospital bed, her face covered in scars. Kayla tells everyone she’s stable, but in bad condition. Everyone looks on with concern. Stephanie wakes up and asks why they all look so worried. She asks where Steve is.
