I have been doing everything I know how to avoid writing a particular scene. It's not pivotal or earth-shattering, although it follows a pivotal scene, and I've already written that one. Long long ago I wrote the dialogue for this scene way ahead of the order in which it would appear. Now that I'm "up to" that chapter, I can't seem to write it. I have skipped over it and written many other scenes/chapters or added new scenes to come before it. It's not stopping me from continuing to write, but it is interfering with the flow.
I do not know why this scene is giving me fits. It shouldn't be. It includes a couple of my favorite characters. I just needed to share this with my fellow writers.

Thats always my biggest challenge writing scenes that I had planned and then when the time comes I change my mind about them so I tend to sometimes use lines that are from other shows or books that I think may work for the purpose of the scene and that helps the scene to flow on from that line

It's happening again.
I'm having writer's block with a tough chapter. I've been writing chapters that come after it, but I've been avoiding this chapter. I guess I'll get to it eventually, but when? Chapters are ticking off while I procrastinate.

Ugh, I hate when that happens! Hopefully you'll get inspiration soon, Kpatch!

When I get stuck on a chapter/scene I sometimes free write about why I'm stuck and often that helps me get unstuck.

Thank you both! heroicmuse I was thinking about that very thing--why I'm stuck. I believe the reason I'm stuck is that I'm not sure this is the right direction to go, but I've written so many scenes/chapters that spring from it, so I am committed to making it work.

That's frustrating! I've had to backtrack several times too (my story several years ago where JJ hurt his arm was such a backtrack, where I realized later that not being able to play guitar was a better direction to go in.) I sometimes save those chapters in a separate file so they're not lost forever and then go on with the new direction.

I feel your pain tanna4ever. Have you tried just writing it without trying to make it perfect or finding the right words? Just get it down on paper and worry about the right words when you edit/rewrite.
