I've decided to officially 'cancel' my story Underneath the Stars (sorry to anyone who might have been reading it!), so I figure it can't hurt to start a new project and this one I'm *very* excited about. It's an ensemble piece set about 11 years in the future, or thereabouts. All the current kids of Salem are now grown up and causing dramas of their own. I hope you will enjoy this!
Updates will usually happen on Sunday nights, but I am debuting the first episode now, because tomorrow is Easter and people will likely be busy. I know *I* will be. The next couple posts are pictures of how I imagine the cast to look. It might help you to visualize them better too. Thanks for giving this fan fiction a chance.

Episode 1
“Rafe! Rafe! Where are you?” Gabi screeches, sending the door flying back on its hinges as she stomps into the Hernandez family kitchen. “Get out here right now and stop me before I kill your niece!”
Arianna Horton follows closely at her mother’s heels, rolling her eyes and flailing her arms in protest. “No, Mother. How about you restrain yourself? We’re no longer living in the dark ages. I can do whatever the hell I want to with my own body. I'm nearly twenty-one!”
“Nearly is not nearly close enough, Hija,” Gabi snaps. “As long as you’re living under my roof-”
“I’m not living under your roof,” Arianna cuts her off. “I live on campus, remember? And you don’t even live here anymore, either. You only come around when you need Tio to do your bidding.”
Gabi glares at Arianna. “Ohmigod! You really do have some nerve talking to me that way, little girl. How do you manage to stand upright carrying around an attitude that big? I mean, it must weigh you down from time to time.”
“And who are you? Mary Sunshine?”
“You’re a brat,” Gabi said. “I didn’t raise you to be a brat. I should send you back to your papas in Phoenix on the next flight out. Mind you, it will be in cramped, economy seating with a one-way trip ticket.”
The women started to argue in earnest then, alternating between cursing in Spanish and English.
“Hey, hey, what the hell is going on here?” Rafe suddenly appeared in the doorway, a wet towel hanging around his neck. He smelled like Irish Spring and was wearing a damp wife-beater and baggy sweats. “A man can’t take a shower in peace without having to break up a screaming match? I still have soap in places nice people don’t talk about.”
“Ewww,” Arianna said.
“Ewww yourself,” Rafe said. “Now, what’s all this noise about?”
Gabi sniffed. “Your niece is a menace.”
Arianna rolled her eyes. “And your sister is a boring killjoy.”
“Hey now, Ari. Show your mom some respect,” Rafe admonished her.
“Respect is earned, Tio. When she treats me with some-”
“Ari, c’mon!” Rafe said sharply.
“Well, Mom’s not being fair! She’s acting completely irrational just because I had a few small drinks-”
“And crashed my new car!” Gabi spat.
“You have good insurance.”
“That’s not the point!”
Rafe sighed. “Ari, you know better than that. Drinking and driving? Dammit, what were you thinking? You could have been killed. You could have killed someone else. You could be rotting in a jail cell downtown right now.”
“Well, I’m not, am I?”
“Only because your mom and I haven’t turned you in.”
Arianna’s brown eyes went wide. “You’re not going to… are you?”
“Maybe he should,” Gabi said. “Teach you a lesson. Show you that actions have consequences. Your party girl ways are starting to p**s me off, Arianna. The dean at Salem U said you skipped eighty percent of your classes last semester. It’s a miracle you weren’t expelled and get to go back at all this year, especially without having to face any kind of academic suspension.”
“Dean Shiloh would never do that to me,” Arianna insisted. “His nephew, this Sigma Tau named Dave, is really into me and he said if I did him a favor, he would put in a good word for me with his uncle.”
“What kind of favor?” Rafe asked, raising his eyebrow.
“Not that kind of favor,” Arianna said, shaking her head. “God, get your mind out of the gutter. I just said I’d go out with him on a date. One date, nothing more. We’re going to a party on campus next week and then my debt is paid off.”
“That’s it?” Gabi asked skeptically.
“That’s it, Mom. Just stop worrying already.”
“How can I when you’re making all these terrible decisions?”
“Can I go now?” Arianna asked with a bored yawn. “Haven’t I been lectured enough yet?”
“Ari, this is serious business,” Rafe said. “You aren’t even the legal age to drink, and -”
“I know,” Arianna interrupted him. “I’ll be good from now on. I really will. I swear. Just no more lectures please.”
Gabi shook her head. She waved her hand at the door. “Whatever. Just go. Get out of here. You’re giving me a headache.”
Arianna smirked and hurried for the door. She was gone in the next two seconds. Rafe looked at Gabi searchingly. “Uh…”
“Don’t say it. I know. I am a pushover,” Gabi moaned.
“You said it, not me.”
“I mean, anyone else, you know I’d literally whoop their a** but when it comes to Arianna, she always gets away with murder. The worst part is, she’s just like me too. It scares me, Rafe. I did a lot of crazy stuff when I was her age. I don’t want her to fall into the same dark pits I did.”
“I know,” Rafe agreed. “And I understand your worry. She’s doing some dangerous things.”
“She hates me.”
“Now you know that’s not true. No way.”
“Don't be so sure. Because I spent a lot of her childhood moving from scheme, to plot, to scheme. She lived in Arizona with Will and Sonny for several years and I only saw her on holidays and in the summertime. We didn’t bond like we should have, and now it’s too late to make up for lost time.”
“It is not,” Rafe said. “It’s never too late.”
Gabi started to reply but suddenly the doorbell rang. “Hold that thought,” Rafe said. “It’s probably some proselytizers. I’ll get rid of them real quick.”
Rafe hurried through the kitchen to the living room and opened the door. A young teenage boy with wide brown eyes and hair the color of Florida sand, stood on the porch staring up at him.
The boy coughed nervously. “Rafe - Rafe Hernandez?” He said.
Rafe’s throat welled up and he just nodded mutely. The kid shifted nervously from foot to foot. “Um, maybe I got the wrong house,” he said.
“No - no, wait,” Rafe finally found his voice. “Wait… David.”
The teenager paused on the stairs. His eyes bugged out in surprise. “You remember me?”
“Sure,” Rafe said. “You’re David Ridgeway… Jordan’s son.”
“I can’t believe you recognize me after all these years.”
“You've grown up a lot, obviously, but I see Jordan in you... You've got her eyes... Wow, I can't believe you're here after all this time. What brings you by? Do you want to come inside?"
The boy slowly nodded. "Okay."
"How have you been, kid? Tell me everything.”
“Okay, but it’s kind of a long story,” David said quietly.
Rafe swallowed hard. He couldn’t believe the little boy he’d loved as his own was really here in the flesh, and definitely wasn’t so little anymore.
“I’ve got all the time in the world,” Rafe said.

Well this seems like it'll be a really interesting story, billiereed! I love that you have the kids aged up to be in their teens now! Arianna is a handful! So cool that David found his way to Salem!

Thank you soooo much for the reviews, André DiMera and lumiforeverandalways I am actually excited about this story. I think my muse will sustain for a while. I am really excited about writing David's return. There will be lots of twists and turns on that front. And yes, Ari is a brat handful. We'll see if she mellows out a bit over time lol Previews for next Sunday- - Henry gets very bad news.
- David confides in Rafe.
- Rafe makes an important phone call.

Great stage-setting chapter, and thank you for all the visuals of the characters. I completely forgot about Charlotte and Thomas because they are rarely mentioned.
