Sad news to share (Read 241 times)

Hi All,

I haven't been on the board over the last week because my Dad passed away. It was completely unexpected. I had just seen him that morning. He had his coffee in hand and was happily taking my daughter to her bus stop. At 5 pm that evening, a Detective and two uniformed police officers were at my door to give me the notification. As horrible as it was, I couldn't help thinking that it was happening just like it does on TV.

As the medical examiner explained it to me, they believe it was a widowmaker heart attack. He was hiking on a trail at the time. Other hikers called 911 but he was gone long before the ambulance got there.

We're all in shock. His mother (my grandmother) lived to be 96, and anyone who knew my Dad expected him to live another 20 years. He did not have a diagnosed heart condition.

Aw. So sorry to hear this Christine. Something very similar happened to my fatherinlaw and a police officer showed up at our door to tell us.
