Chapter 438
Justin came through the front door of the mansion and was about to head up the stairs when he noticed a man in the living room. His back was toward Justin and he was holding something, but Justin couldn’t see what it was. He walked into the living room. “Hello?”
The man turned around and smiled broadly. “Uncle Justin. Hey.”
“JJ. I didn’t realize that was you.” He looked at the bundle in JJ’s arms. “And Holly.” Justin got closer and put his finger in baby Holly’s hand. She curled her fingers around his thumb.
“Nicole said she needed to make some calls for work,” JJ explained, “but I think she just needed to have a little time to herself. So I volunteered to watch the baby.”
“I didn’t realize you and Nicole were close.”
“Well, we’re not. Not yet anyway. But Holly is Daniel’s daughter and I was super close with him.” He looked at Holly and rocked her in his arms. “Daniel wanted me to be the baby’s godfather. After Daniel died, I told Nicole I’d be here for her and Holly. And I’m keeping my word.” JJ instinctively kissed the baby’s head. “She’s special.”
Justin stroked Holly’s hair. “Yes she is.” He took a seat on the sofa. “I haven’t seen you much lately. Just at the first responders benefit before Thanksgiving. And then for just a minute at the hospital Christmas gathering. You must be busy. How’s work?”
“Fine. Everything’s good.” Still holding Holly, he took a seat next to Justin. “How about with you?”
Justin shrugged. “Fine. Good.”
“Aunt Maggie told me Philip got voted out as CEO of Titan. Things must be weird over there.”
“They’re different, no argument there.” Justin leaned back on the coach before leaning forward again. “Um. How’s...” He cleared his throat. “How’s Abigail.”
JJ smiled a small smile. “She’s good.” He sighed. “Can I be honest for a minute?”
“Always.”
“She seemed a lot happier when she was with you. I mean, it caught me off guard big time when I found out about the two of you, but I just want my sister to be happy.”
“Did she tell you why we broke up?”
JJ nodded. “You don’t want children with her.”
“That’s not exactly true. I have grown children and I’m not in a position where I want to start over. I bowed out because I didn’t want to keep her from realizing her dreams.”
Holly gurgled and JJ turned his attention back to her. “I never really thought about having kids. Not until the first time I laid eyes on this one.”
“Babies change everything,” Justin agreed. “So, you’re thinking about settling down?”
With a shrug, JJ said, “Maybe. I’ve been seeing Gabi for a few months and I really love her. I’m just not sure she’s ready for a serious relationship. She may not be the one I’m gonna end up spending my life with, but I really like being with her.”
Justin rested his hand on JJ’s shoulder. “You’re still young. There’s no rush.” He put the index finger from his other hand into Holly’s hand and let her hold onto it. “But I know what you mean. Holly’s gotten into my heart too.”

I hope JJ listens to Justin. Having a baby with Gabi would be a nightmare he doesn't need.

Sweet scene on many levels. I'm glad that JJ will be there for Holly. He'll be a great godfather. And, it's nice to see Justin and JJ have an amicable relationship.
I hope that Justin doesn't feel the need to have a baby just because of Holly or because he misses Abigail. I understand what it's like to have baby fever, but he is right, that he's old enough to be a grandpa, and not really start over again.

That was a nice heart to heart I don’t personally like either of the two men but it was still nice

Chapter 439a
Philip pulled into a gas station off the highway and drove into a spot near the convenience store. He put the RV in Park. Then he turned in his seat to face Parker. “We never really talked about this. What did your mom say to you when you saw her?”
Parker looked off to the left as he remembered the last time he saw his Mommy.
“I have to go away for a while, angel,” she told him.
“Why? You sick again?”
“No, it’s not that. Well, I guess it sort of is. But it’s not the kind of sick you go to the doctor for. I guess you could say I’m heartsick and I need to figure out what to do next.”
“You don’t need to go away for that,” Parker reasoned.
“I wish that was true, but right now, I do.”
“Is it on account of what happened to Vicky?” Parker asked. He saw tears forming in her eyes and it made him sad too. When she nodded, Parker slid closer and hugged his mother’s neck.
“You’re an amazing little boy, Parker. Don’t ever forget that.” Chloe broke down crying. “I love you to the moon and back, angel.”
“When will you be back, Mommy?”
Chloe took his face in her hands. “I’m not sure, but I am sure that I love you more than anything and I always will.” She leaned away and swiped at her tears. “For now, it’s better for you and your daddy if I leave. But can you do me one favor, angel? Could you please take care of your dad? He’s going to need you more than ever.” She pulled Parker close and hugged him with all her might. “Take care of each other, okay?”
“She was sad,” Parker said, in answer to his father’s question. “She said she had to go away and she loved me and always would.” Parker wiped a tear away with the back of his wrist. “She asked me to take care of you. Am I taking care of you okay?”
Philip’s eyes widened in surprise. Tears stung his eyes and he couldn’t speak for a moment. He was touched that Chloe wanted their son to take care of him, but at the same time, he was furious that she wouldn’t stay and let her husband take care of her. He nodded slowly and opened his arms, beckoning Parker to come closer. “Come here.”
As he hugged Parker tight, Parker asked, “What did she say to you the last time you saw her?”

I'm glad Philip and Parker are talking about this.
I am also furious at Chloe. A six-year-old should never have be burdened with having to take care of his parents. They are the adults and are supposed to be taking care of him. Chloe not only abandoned him but asked him to do something that is too much of a burden for a young child.

I feel like Parker will be in therapy for life He’s just been through the ringer I’m glad they are actually discussing it though Parker needs this from his father for reassurance I hope Philip tells him he is to be minding Parker not the other way around

Chapter 439b
As Philip hugged Parker tight, Parker asked, “What did she say to you the last time you saw her,” Parker asked. Philip leaned away. He had done his best to put that awful day out of his mind, but here he was, his son searching his face for answers.
“Running away from me won’t change anything,” Philip insisted.
“Maybe not, but being here, at the scene of the crime, it hurts so damn much,” Chloe cried. “ And you’re wrong about one thing. I’m not running away from you. I’m running away from me.”
“I feel like I just got you back,” Philip said quietly.
“But don’t you understand? You didn’t get me back. I may look like Chloe but I’ll never be the same again. Neither of us will.”
“I don’t believe that. I want a life with you, Chloe. That’s all I ever wanted and I haven’t gotten that yet.”
“The life we planned is over and we can never get it back,” she told him through her tears. “Deep down you know that as well as I do. Take your blinders off, Philip. Look at me. Look at us.”
“I am looking,” he spoke with controlled anger, “and I know you’re wrong. We were on the right road, we were finding our way again.” He gestured toward the bedroom. “We made love to each other all night and the feelings, they were real and deep. I felt it. I know you felt it too. Hell, I heard you say you never want it to end.”
She shook her head from side to side. “That was a fantasy. The road ended the night of the accident. You can say it wasn’t my fault but you’re not kidding anyone. We all know that it was my fault for going out at all that night. I should have stayed home.” She looked up toward the ceiling. “Oh how I wish I didn’t go out that night. But we can never erase that. We can never get back what we lost. We can never hold our little girl or watch her grow up or watch Parker become an amazing big brother.”
“She blames herself for the accident,” Philip told Parker.

It will be interesting to see what Parker makes of that answer Sometimes we have to remember he’s just a small boy, he speaks often wise beyond his years though like a little Old man
