Okay everyone, brace yourself. I liked Sami today. It was maybe the first time I have ever seen Sami get angry without whining. Her anger was controlled and focussed. Even though she was near tears, she wasn't bawling. The anger was realistic and honest.
LOL at Rafe2 erasing his own criminal record. Somehow I doubt it's that easy to purge something like that. But it was interesting to see what he is really supposed to look like before he was Rafaelified.
And how cute was Johnny preferring the mischievous Rafe to the stand-up guy Rafe?
Good scenes and great acting!

I, too, saw a glimmer of the Sami I liked today. She was well calculated and not over the top like recently. Johnny is a Dimera and I think eventually he won't care for a strait-laced stand-up guy too much. Right now, he's a kid and loves everyone.

WOW! I really liked Sami today! That is the grown-up Sami I want to see. Still ferocious, strong-willed, but not out-and-out evil. She's not supposed to be some weepy Belle or Carrie clone. Great scenes with her and Rafe2.
I'm glad they got into who Rafe2 really is, too. It's been driving me insane that we had no idea why this guy would give up his whole damn life to do this!

We do know that Rafe2 is being paid, and I'm assuming being paid quite well. If he were a petty criminal, seems like he would jump at the chance to assume a new identity and make a boat load of cash in the process. Feel free to hate me for it, but I kind of understand why Johnny would like him. Rafe2 is very childlike in his impulses, so it makes sense to me why he would appeal to a child. Of course, Johnny thinks Rafe hung the moon, so it's possible that Johnny doesn't even realize that the advice he's getting from Rafe2 doesn't match what Rafe1 said before. I doubt Johnny is paying that much attention. After all, he's either always at Grandma's or Dad's, so when does he see Rafe anyway?

I really enjoyed these scenes too. I really hope Sami wakes up soon. I would love for her to figure this out on her own. Or at the very least, have the strength to just get up and leave him. Real Rafe would never act this cold toward her or the children. I think she knows deep down that "Rafe" has changed and it doesn't seem likely he will go back to her Rafe. The way Rafe 2 kept laughing everything off that Sami was saying should be a huge red flag. He didn't even really ever admit that what he did was wrong (in terms of feeding the kids ice cream for lunch and teaching Johnny to fight)....he just kept laughing saying "come on, gimme a break" while Sami, obviously upset as a parent that this man she thought she could trust with her kids was doing these things. Excellent acting on both parts.

DD, I agree. What kid is going to dislike someone who lets them eat ice cream for lunch and pretty much acts like a big kid himself? I do find it interesting that for someone who said kids didn't like him, Rafe2 seems to be doing alright with Johnny, albeit with some bad advice and unhealthy meal choices. I do like that EJ's "plan" to get Johnny to hate Rafe seems to be backfiring.
And I agree with everyone that Sami was amazing in those scenes. She pressed her point without getting hysterical, the crying was appropriate but not overdone, and she talked to Johnny afterward in a calm parenting voice. These scenes were done so well, and I loved the comparison Sami made about Rafe2 being like "Stefano raising EJ". Wow....her worst nightmare about how Johnny would be raised coming true in a way she never thought possible.

I have to agree with many points here. Rafe2 erasing his background was awesome (and what I would have done). In a weird way, he sort of reminds me of Jon Lovitz in a devil costume.
I loved Sami yesterday in the way she was controlling her anger (not ranting and raving like she usually does, but truly expressing her feelings regarding violence and her son). I also loved how she compared Rafe2's advice/actions to Stefano training his son.
And, I can totally see how Johnny likes Rafe2.
I don't get why Ally didn't initially like him (all because he got a cookie without nuts? I don't buy it). The meanness following, sure, but not initially.

Well they always say kids are the best judges of character. Maybe Ally sensed it right away.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Sami gets the Salem brain for her allotted day.
