Allie goes to the Johnson’s to talk to Tripp. Kayla tells her that he’ll be back soon, that he and Steve went to pack his things because he’s moving in with them. She invites Allie in and offers her some tea. Allie has a brief flashback of talking to Tripp about the night Charlie was killed. Kayla asks if everything’s alright.
Allie says Nicole texted to let her know Henry’s asleep. They talk about Henry, and how great Tripp is with him. Kayla’s happy they worked things out. Allie apologizes for the mess she created when she accused Tripp of raping her. Kayla understands what she was going through. She wanted the truth to come out, and it did, and now they have to get on with their lives.
Kayla says she can tell Tripp to call Allie, if she needs to be with Henry. Allie says she can wait. Kayla asks if everything’s okay, as Allie seems tense. Before she can answer, there’s a knock at the door. It’s Rafe and Ava. They ask if Tripp is there. Kayla tells them that he’s packing his things to move in, and Allie asks why they need to talk with him. Rafe says it’s police business, and Kayla invites them in. Allie sends a text telling Tripp not to come, but sends it too late, as Steve and Tripp come in. He’s confused to see Ava there. Ava apologizes, but she had to tell Rafe what she saw the night Charlie was killed. He hugs her, and tells her it’ll be okay. He knows he only did it to protect her. Ava doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Tripp talks about how dangerous Charlie was, how he kept pushing Ava. Ava says she didn’t do anything to Charlie. Tripp is confused. Ava says she told Rafe about seeing Tripp the night of the murder.
Ava talks about what she saw and assumes that Tripp did it. Tripp mentions how horrible Charlie was getting, especially with what he did to Allie. He says he banged on the door, but Charlie didn’t answer, and that he didn’t shoot Charlie. Ava hugs Tripp.
Rafe mutters “here we go again”. Tripp says he considered telling Ava this a few times, especially when he heard Gabi talking. Rafe asks if either of them considered talking to him. Tripp concedes that they should have, but neither of them did this. Ava asks if he believes them. Rafe responds that what he believes is irrelevant. They have considerably held up this case. Steve starts to say something about why they held back, but Rafe counters that they didn’t hold back, they lied. Steve asks if he can understand why they did. Rafe says he can, but asks if he can understand that if anyone would have just told the truth that they could have narrowed down a time of death, interviewed them, and possibly found the killer, who is still out there.
As Allie gets ready to leave, Kayla offers to make her something to eat. Allie thanks her, but she needs to get home to Henry. Tripp offers to walk Allie out, and they leave. Kayla asks if Steve knew that Tripp was there that night, and Steve says that he just told him. Steve told him to go to the police, but it looks like the police came to him. Outside, Allie tells Tripp she appreciates him protecting Henry. He didn’t want to let Charlie get away with what he did. Tripp looks uncomfortable, and Allie asks if he’s okay. It’s just hitting him that Charlie was likely on the floor dying when he was knocking on the door, which he thinks means he just missed the real killer.

I liked how Allie tried to warn Tripp to stay away. Oops. Too late.

Tripp's story was kind of boring and unoriginal, but I'm glad he is innocent. The amount of people who showed up at Charlie's apartment that night is getting ridiculous though. It sounds like all of Salem was there at one point or another.
