from daytime royalty daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8632675/1/SID: Redo for Patch and Kayla? Nope!; Stephen Nichols: "I wouldn't trade [Y&R] for [Days]." We can't be the only ones scratching our heads over Mary Beth Evans return as Kayla. Don't get us wrong: We love seeing Bo's sis on screen, but it's not exactly like she's been doing much. And, with the news that Bryan Dattilo and Lisa Rinna will reprise their roles, we admit that we're a little nostalgic for some other past characters... like Patch, played by Stephen Nichols! Sure, he's got a job as Y&R's Tucker, but on soaps, you can fall into a volcano or get sent to prison for murdering your ex in a flash! So is there a possibility that Jack's big brother could come back and save Kayla from the backburner? "I love the actors that I worked with over there," Nichols explains. "But I'm very happy at Y&R and I feel fortunate to have landed there. The caliber of acting and writing on that show is the best I've ever experienced. I miss working with the Days crew, but I wouldn't trade this situation for that." Bummer.

They were treated pretty poorly the last time from what I remember so I can't blame him.

I don't blame him either. Given the way the storylines have been written for returning characters - he's better off at Y&R.

I was thinking the same thing.

Yikes. Y&R is a damn mess. I mean, he's being paid for it, and the future of the show is more stable, so I can't fault him for that, but... it's like a nightmare of terrible, misogynist stories and bad 70s-80s stunt casting.

From what I've read in SOD, Y&R cast a lot of stars that were popular on other shows but they didn't work out on Y&R and were soon cut. Eden Riegel who was very popular as Bianca on AMC comes to mind. I think they had some popular GH'ers too.

They have, like, half the cast of 2004-2007 AMC on there, plus a bunch of random old-school TV stars (the woman who played Daisy Duke, Eddie from Family Matters, Ashley from Fresh Prince)... I'm expecting them to cast Joyce Dewitt as Victor Newman's new wife any day now.
Back on topic: it sucks that we won't be getting SN back.
