I got this idea while eating dinner (corned beef & cabbage) tonight. We can have these holiday threads and in them we can post anything relating to it such as: youtubes, recipes, plans etc... whatever relates to it:
I will start this one with an Irish group I just heard a few weeks back: Bellowhead...

Fantastic group! That was great.
I was going to post 500 Miles by The Proclaimers, then I read something that said they are a Scottish band. Oops.
I'll be having corned beef and cabbage twice on Thursday. We're having a luncheon at work, and my husband is making it for dinner. He braises it, then he roasts it in the oven after spreading a layer of orange marmalade on top. So delicious.
I've asked him to make Irish Soda Bread too.
Cool idea sportsgirl!

Orange marmalade on it? wow that sounds great...so different. I make mine all boiled beef broth, lipton onion soup mix etc. but the cabbage this year was from our garden...

Love the idea SG! I haven't thought of anything else to add just yet, but I did add a couple of smilies in honor of the holiday: I'll try to find new smilies for each holiday.

I especially love the 2nd one.
I spent part of this morning looking for a good recipe for shepherd's pie to make Thursday. It has to be a fast recipe as I am making it after work. Will post it when I find it.
We had the leftover corned beef & cabbage tonight... erin go bragh!!

My hubby's family is Irish, so I am by marriage Someday we will go to Ireland and trace his family roots. My daughter's first St. Patrick's Day 4 years ago You can't see it, but it has little pockets on the front that say "Kiss me, I'm Irish"

My sister was born on St. Patrick's Day and, being an Irish family, my parents decided to name her Kelly. She ended up in Dublin for her 21st birthday and went into a small local pub. When the guy checked her ID (she was paying by credit card) he noticed her birthday and her name and shouted to the pub (read with an Irish accent) "Aye, yer name's Kelly? And ye were baarn on St. Patty's Day? Well, lemme buy ye a pint." She says it was awesome.

Love that story DD!
MrsM - your daughter is so cute. She's 4 already???
I'm going to try to remember to ask my husband for the corned beef with orange marmalade recipe and post it here. Not sure if he got it from a cookbook or made it up in his head. It's sooo good.
