Soaps She Knows

Galen Gering has been playing Rafe Hernandez on Days of our Lives since October 31, 2008. The actor recently did an interview with Cliff Dorfman, a screenwriter, film director, and actor on his podcast where they discussed Gering’s contract status at Days of our Lives. Gering says, “The fact of the matter is, I might as well say it. I don’t know how long I’m going to be on the show . . . what the next chapter holds. If I’m staying, if I’m going, I know I’m definitely going for a bit, you know what I’m saying.” When Dorfman asked if he was returning to Salem, the actor said, “Well, I have a couple weeks of shows to do,” and admitted it was to wrap things up and spread his wings. The actor is interested in writing and to become a part of directing. Soaps.com will update with his last airdate when the time comes though we believe it will be a ways away since the show has already taped up to August 2020 and they’ve returned this week to tape scenes from August onward.

Anything that keeps Rafe out of Hope's orbit is a relief. The last time I found the character truly interesting he was paired with Sami. I actually wish they would have paired Rafe with Kate longer. Not that I ever expected them to be a long term couple but as lovers, their dynamic was unexpected and could have been a lot more fun if Days hadn't immediately quashed it.

If the actor is leaving, I wish him all the best with whatever comes next.

I'll be sad to see him go, Rafe has been a great guy lately, but I also wish him luck.

Rafe's character has been floundering for a long time. He's kind of forgettable. I won't miss Rafe but I wish Galen the best.

I like Rafe, but I think Galen is too good of an actor and is wasted in the role. They sort of dumbed him down when they paired him with Hope. He needs someone like Nicole or Sami to keep him going.

Agree 100% Trey! Galen is a great actor and they have made Rafe one of the most boring characters around. He was phenomenal in the doppleganger storyline. I wish they would have used his abilities to their fullest. Good luck to Galen on his next adventure!
