from daytime royalty daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8472348/1/#newSOW: Melanie to Nathan: "It's Over!" and Romance for Melanie and Brady?; March 22nd Issue[/color] Melanie to Nathan: "It's Over!"After a chat with Carly this week, Melanie finally makes it clear to Nathan it's over between them, and Nathan makes plans to leave Salem. "At the end of the day, Carly is still Melanie's mom," notes Molly Burnett (Melanie). "So Melanie is going to gravitate to her, no matter what." Nathan refuses to accept that Melanie is moving on. He stops by to see Melanie and runs into Carly, who blasts him for pursuing Melanie and insists that he back off. Nathan stands firm. Later, a thief tries to steal Melanie's necklace, and she struggles with the bandit. Brady intervenes. "On top of everything that's going on with Melanie, some guy jacks her necklace," Burnett groans. "Melanie goes crazy on him, because her mom gave her the necklace," The thief is arrested, and it's revealed that the lad is Rafe and Gabi's brother, Dario. Justin is appointed Dario's attorney and he gets the young man released. Melanie is furious an vows revenge. Nathan finally tracks down Melanie and makes another desperate appeal, to no avail. "Melanie needs some time alone," Burnett point out. "She needs to process all the things that have been happening to her." Nathan accepts Melanie's decision - and it leads him to make a big one of his own! Romance for Melanie and Brady? After helping Melanie apprehend Dario, Brady escorts Melanie home and makes sure she's okay. It leads to a sweet moment between the two. Is Days setting the stage for love? "Who knows?" shrugs Eric Martsolf (Brady). "There is an age difference between the two, but that's certainly not a new thing to soaps. It's definitely interesting to think about. Molly and I have discussed it. We've had a chuckle with one another that 'Branie' could actually come to life." Martsolf reveals that the bond between Brady and Melanie was completely unexpected. "It wasn't something that was pre-manufactured," he asserts. "Molly and I click on a certain level, and it's very sincere. Viewers have described it as a brother and sister relationship that they wish they had with their siblings." Brady's friendship with Melanie also brings new dimensions to both characters. "Yes, Brady is ruthless, stubborn, arrogant, and power-hungry," Martsolf concedes. "But at the same time, Brady loves to expose [this other side of himself] to Melanie. There is complete generosity and care. It's a beautiful thing to see. I love the relationship between Melanie and Brady".

So far, I'm not too excited about Dario. He steals from his own sister, and then tries to steal from Melanie??:/ The only good thing about him coming to town is the POSSIBILITY that he'll expose Rafe2. I'm not sure I can wait that long. Branie? I think I would like Melady (like M'lady) better. But I'm not sure I'm on board with a romantic pairing for these two. I'm on the brother/sister boat. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

While he's kinda nice to look at,I'm not fond of Dario so far either. Mel and Brady.....I like the brother/sister thing they have, but also have to admit that I'd get behind a romantic pairing if it meant we could totally be rid of Nathan in her life. With the possibility of Nathan being recast somewhere down the line, that possibility isn't totally wiped out no matter what she says.Corday seems determined to pair them,so if they bring Nathan back,I can totally see him going after Mel again.

Not sure what I think of the pair. I like Melanie and Brady in their advisor roles in each others lives. I do see the chemistry. I'm afraid they would ruin it if it became more than friendship. And does Melanie really want to get involved with someone else who lives in the Kiriakis mansion? Seems a bit too incestuous. And especially since Brady has been married to Chloe in the past ... well, the dramatic possibilities are certainly in place.
Thanks for posting this, karebr.

Seems like I agree with everyone else so far. I love the relationship between Brady and Melanie as it is right now and if (that's a big if) it was done right, I might, maybe, kinda, sorta be able to get behind a pairing of them. I do agree with kpatch that it might ruin them, and I do feel a great joy (most of the time) when they share scenes together. Melanie does bring out the nicer side of Brady and we still need to see that part of him or else he'll go the way of EJ with no redeeming qualities or relationships.

Yuck. Double yuck. Brady and Melanie provide much needed stability and safety for each other that no one else is able to give them. If they are paired romantically, then that will be lost when they (inevitably?) break up. Plus, I think that Melanie needs some time to settle after 1) Nathan tries to pester her into marriage, 2) she loses her baby, 3) her marriage breaks up. Let her grow up a little more, be a little more independent, THEN let her start a relationship! Or do I ask too much?

Please DOOL writers, PLEASE don't pair Brady with Melanie. Ick! And, Melanie/Dario struggling as he's trying to steal her necklace? Oh, so romantic!

Barf to a Brady/Melanie pairing!! Age difference aside, it's just gross. They have too much of a sibling-like relationship. It would just be nasty. Yeah, not liking Dario so far and I didn't expect to like him. The writers seem to just be flying by the seat of their pants with these ridiculous new characters that they bring in. I know that this Dario guy (along with Abigail) is probably pretty cheap by soap standards but I'd rather see a Brady (Eric), a Horton (Lucas), or an Alamain (Nicholas) before yet another Hernandez, who was just thought up out of thin air by the writers back when this actor played that patient in the quarantine story.

I really hope they don't go the romance route with Brady & Melanie.. They need to stay sibling-like as Brady did promise Max to watch out for her.
Neither one of them need a romance right now especially Mel who still needs her time & space from Philip & Nathan. Brady needs to concentrate on Titan and getting his new employee in Taylor. Now a Brady/Taylor relationship would be more interesting to me.

Nope, I am not in favor a a Brady-Mel get together. I like this special brother-sis relationship they have now. Especially since she was married to Philip who basically is Brady's uncle. Yuk, too much in the family. Besides I like Brady matching with Taylor and getting Nicole steamed.

Thanks for posting Karebr!
Loved the article. I feel bad that he tries to take her necklace right off her! Holy cow. I really, really like Brady and Melanie the way that they are. Not sure how I would feel about them being love interests for each other. Then again, maybe when I do see it, I would like it...stranger things have happened. They do have good chemistry with each other.

Melanie and Brady? Gag! I seriously hope the writers do not go there. That would be all kinds of wrong!

Not sure how I feel about the possible pairing. On one hand I like them the way they are and don't want to see it ruined, but on the other I do like the chemistry between the two and see how it could work if it was done correctly. At this point they are too much like brother and sister and I don't think it would work, but maybe down the road when all the dust settles maybe.

Put me in the "absolutely not" group. I know Philip and Brady are close in age, but it just doesn't appeal to me after the way that they have been written. I can so see a romatic relationship for Mel and the new little thief. It was, after all, how Melanie was first introduced, stealing a bracelet. Ah, that karma...it really is a you know what. ;D
