Sorry if this was already posted or talked about somewhere else. I looked and didn't see it but I may have missed it.
I just saw a video on YouTube saying Days was going on a 4 month hiatus - not the airing, but the shooting. This is apparently to shorten the gap between shooting and air time so that they can better respond to audience reactions to storylines. This sounds great to me if it's true. This is something I've seen so many people say they would like to happen, including myself. I hope it's true.
Anyone else heard about it? The video did not say when this will occur.

I haven't heard this but I figured the upcoming time jump was a reset of the taping schedule as well as the stories. Thanks for the info wendylou.

I think it's a good idea.

Thank goodness! In my opinion, it’s completely ridiculous that they’ve been filming 7 to 8 months in advance for the last few years. I understand they think it’s trying to save money, but there must be other ways to go about it. Two to three months is more than enough to film in advance, and I think even three is stretching it. Days does not have much post production that needs to be done, nor does it involve so many special effects that they NEED to film over half a year in advance.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the time jump, as well as the break in filming. Hopefully, it’ll lead to better writing and other issues which need to be resolved.

I'm sure there are other reasons for the low budget but I'm guessing the biggest is because Days has been in the basement for ratings. I feel the reason for the low ratings is because the viewers are not liking the stories. With such a long gap in filming, the show gets zero feedback on a story before it ends! There are so many other cons to having a huge gap but they seem to only care about the dollar, and not so much about the fans. So then the fans start leaving. I really hope this hiatus fixes the gap and the feedback problem. /rant

Maybe the other reason could be they don't want to tape that far in advance if they don't plan on bringing back Days beyond Sept 2020. They're already filming June 2020. They would only have a few more months left if the show doesn't get renewed.

It will be a huge benefit to shorten the time between filming and the show airing. They could change or wrap up unpopular stories fairly quickly.

Posting a link to Freddie Smith and his wife (?) talking about possible return date of the Days actors and crew. There's a lot of interesting stuff in it about how Days' contracts work but if you are bored by all that and just want to get to the part about when he says he THINKS they will be returning to set (possibly February) it's at about the 5 minute mark.

Another update. Still no definite return date but it's confirmed they will stay on the network. His video made me wonder - if Days is eventually moved to their new paid app, I think it's called the Peacock, would you pay or the app if it were the only way to see Days?
