I wonder if the rekindling old romances comment was about Lucas or just a general comment.

^^ Who knows, they promised family values with the reset too but then they gave us deadbabyviolentsex. They promised more Hortons and turned Daniel into Maggie's eggchild and Melanie into her granddaughter so I can only imagine what they consider "rekindling old romances".
I know that when Bryan was let go, he was very disatisfied with the writing for Lucas and that he turned down Tomlin's offer to go on recurring status. I don't think he would have agreed to come back if he wasn't promised that Lucas would get decent writing. I don't have any trust left in Days' promises but at least there is a producer at Days now who is a Bryan/Lucas fan this time so there is hope.

As much as I am disgusted with how they wrote the EJ/Sami scene...as it never should have happened...I can see her justifying it as "Rafe wasn't the love of my life...Lucas is therefore, it doesn't count that I did EJ while married to Rafe"...her logic isn't always the most logical and, if written right, Sami and Lucas could be the next supercouple!

That's a pretty big IF. We are talking about the same ones that wrote the unspeakable scene that I just cannot get out of my brain no matter how hard I scrub. The dang flashbacks from not only the 2 participants but the witness doesn't help either.

The unspeakable plot point is unforgivable. MarDar should forever be ashamed of that sickness and I still think they need psychological counseling of their own (from someone a lot more qualified than Marlena). Personally I want those two fired. Even if they manage to ever get anything right in the future, it won't make up for what they did. I feel the same way about Alison Sweeney (and James Scott, I just never expected any better from him) agreeing to participate in the scene. I will never be a Sweeney fan again.
Sami, on the other hand is a fictional character who had no control over what real life people did to her. If she were given an out of some sort (chip in the brain, doppleganger, etc.), I would welcome her back in a second. I say those outs because the other alternative seems impossible to me - it would require a lot of time and "talented writing" (a quality MarDar do not possess). If anyone could possibly salvage the character of Sami at this point, it is Lucas. If the real Sami ever returns I would be very happy to see a Lumi reunion, but in the meantime, I just want Lucas to get good stories of his own and written in character again. I don't have one iota of respect left for MarDar but I know that having Lucas written well is important to Bryan so I feel better knowing that and knowing that he is very happy with Lucas' return. I wish very good things for Bryan and Lucas ... and I still want good things for Days even though Corday and MarDar don't deserve it -- the show is more than those individuals and if anything can save the ratings it is Lucas/Bryan.

^^ I agree and I'm glad Will will have his REAL Dad back in town soon .... and that poor little Allie will have her daddy back and won't be forgotten anymore.

I'm happy to see him back. I hope they don't pair him up with Sami... I kind of wish Sami would just be alone for a while... all potential love interests are too good for her, except for EJ of course, who is bad for her, but not above her.
