THE CONDO, LATER, SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Philip was sitting on the living room floor with Parker.
Philip: You think she’s ever coming back, Parker? Parker: You mean you want her to come back, Dad? I’m sort of enjoying the peace and quiet. You must be a glutton for punishment. Philip: I know. She can be the most infuriating woman on the planet. Parker: No sh!t Sherlock. Philip: But right or wrong, I love her. I don’t know what else to say to convince her that she needs to give us a chance. Parker: Let me give you some advice, Dad. Philip: I could really use some advice. Parker: You’ve done your part. It’s her turn now. The ball is in her court. You should play hard-to-get for a change. Philip: I hate playing games, but I’ve put it all out there. The next move has to be hers. The doorbell rang. Parker: Maybe that’s her! Philip: Maybe that’s her! Philip got up off the floor and answered the door. It was a courier. Messenger: Delivery for Philip Kiri... Kiri... Philip: That’s me. Philip signed for the package and gave the messenger a tip. He opened the package and inside was a wrapped box. He looked at it quizzically. Philip: I’m not expecting anything. It’s not my birthday. Parker: Open it Dad, open it. I can’t stand the suspense. Philip: I wonder what this could be. Parker: Only one way to find out. Gee, how did he ever function without me? Philip: There’s no card. Parker rolled his eyes in exasperation.
Philip sat back down on the floor next to Parker. He unwrapped the package and took a picture frame out of the box. There was no photo in the frame, though. Instead, there was a piece of notepaper with a handwritten poem inside the frame. Philip: Did you write this, Parker? Looks like a kid’s handwriting. Parker: Read it to me, Dad! Philip: “Tell me what you’re...” Philip stopped short as he suddenly recognized the words he was reading. Then he continued reading the poem out loud.
“Tell me what you’re thinking Tell me what you feel Tell me what you’re thinking It must be very real
Thoughts are deep inside you but locked up in there tight They’d really do much better if you brought them out into the light
Tell me what you’re thinking Don’t wait ‘til you’re old and gray Why wait until tomorrow When I care enough today”
As he read the poem to Parker, Philip got choked up. Parker did too. Parker: That was awesome Dad. Who wrote that? Philip: This is the first poem I ever wrote for a girl. Parker: Get outta town! I didn’t know you did anything creative. Philip smiled wistfully as he remembered the first time he read the poem out loud.

Awwwwwwwww....so perfect! I love it love it love it! That clip was so sweet. I was thinking the same thing. This is the kind of couple Days needs, with this wonderful sweet history they could be showing them falling in love again and have all of these wonderful clips to show.
Thanks for posting. I love it. I did wonder, though, where did Chloe get that poem? Does she carry it around with her? Has it been a while since she left?

THE CONDO, SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Philip and Parker sat on the floor and Philip was lost in his thoughts. He realized that Chloe must have run across the poem in his desk drawer the night he found her crying in his office. Parker picked up the box that the framed poem was packaged in, and, as he shook it, it made a noise. Something else was in the box.
Philip: Let me see that box for a minute, Parker. Philip took the box from Parker and turned it upside down. One of his dog tags slid out of the box and into the palm of his hand. Philip was puzzled. What did it mean? What was Chloe trying to tell him? Did it mean that she was done with him? Did it mean the trust was broken? Philip knitted his brow and looked at Parker who was pointing at the dog tag.
Parker: Dada. Dada. Philip looked back at the dog tag and turned it over. There was an inscription on the back that wasn’t there when he gave it to Chloe. It said, “I love you Philip.” Philip took a deep breath and didn’t even notice that Chloe had returned to the apartment. Parker: Dad! Look! Mommy’s back! Chloe: Sometimes ... sometimes I still have trouble telling you what I feel. Philip continued to look at the dog tag and he smiled and nodded. Then he looked up at Chloe. Philip: Understatement of the century. Philip got up off the floor and went over to Chloe. Chloe: Maybe if I rehearsed more often, I wouldn’t be so rusty. Philip: Sounds like a great idea. You can start rehearsing any time now. Chloe smiled. Chloe: Earlier, when you were talking about love being uncomplicated, you know what was going through my mind? Philip: What? Chloe: That I’m not sure I’m even capable of love. But while I was walking down the street, I realized that love isn’t some grand gesture. It’s the little things you do to show your love. Like finding my iPod in the ocean and downloading the Rod Stewart song you once sang for me on a karaoke machine. Philip: Or watching football with me when you don’t even like the game, just to be together. Chloe: And buying me a DVD of a chick flick and then watching it with me. Philip: Putting a blanket on me so I won’t be cold. And remembering that I like Greek salad and making it for me. Chloe: Taking me to the symphony. Philip: Making applesauce from scratch instead of giving Parker the store-bought kind. Chloe: Or writing a poem from your heart instead of buying a Hallmark card. Philip: And helping me figure out what to wear on a date when you really didn’t want me to go at all. Chloe: And reminding you how to slow dance. Philip: Right. And wearing that red dress and asking the band to play I Need You. Chloe: And serenading me. Philip: And singing a romantic song to me. Chloe: And making love on the beach at sunset. Parker: By George, I think she’s got it! Chloe: You were right, Philip. Love is easy, when you’re in love with the right person. And that person is you. It’s always been you. I love you so much I can’t breathe sometimes. And there’s no reason to make things complicated ... Parker: Dad, please shut her up. Philip pulled Chloe toward him and kissed her mid-sentence. Parker: Ah, peace and quiet. Chloe: I love you Philip. And even though I’m still afraid, it’s like you said. I’m more afraid of not being together. He ran his hand over her cheek and smiled at her. Philip: There’s one thing you never have to worry about, and that's how I feel about you. I’ll always love you, Chloe. I’m more sure of that than I am of anything else in this world. Chloe: Oh Philip, can you forgive me for everything I put you through? Philip: Which time? Chloe: Philip! Philip: Okay okay. Yeah, I think I can forgive you. But another kiss would help me really forgive you. Chloe smiled, put her arms around Philip’s neck and kissed him. Parker: Woot! Woot! Woot! Philip held her close. Philip: So, what made you come back? Chloe: Something Parker said. Philip: Oh? Really! What did he say? Chloe: He told me I should just tell you how I feel. Philip smiled. Philip: Smart boy. He takes after his mother. Chloe: No. He takes after his father. Philip kissed Chloe’s lips twice. Chloe: I have a lot of catching up to do. Philip: Catching up? Chloe: I need to practice telling you I love you about ten times a day. Philip whispered. Philip: Make it twenty. They kissed again. Philip: Mmm. You know, you can also show me how you feel. Chloe: Show you? Philip: Yeah. It might require a slight adjustment to our sleeping arrangements. Chloe: Just for tonight? Philip: I was thinking about forever. Chloe: I can live with that. Philip: Good. Because I can’t live without it. They kissed again. Chloe: One more thing. Philip: What’s that? Chloe: You’re in my heart too. Parker: Mom, you’ve made me and Daddy very happy!
To be continued. Tune in for part 1 of a 2 part epilogue...
