I agree that if they pair Lucas with Sami again, then they've got to do a slow build. What would be interesting would be for Lucas to come back, tell Sami she's made a mess of everything, and take Ally away (and perhaps figure a way to take Johnny/Sydney, too) until she gets her life back on track.
Sami is going to fall hard, but she needs to find her inner strength. So much has happened to her, that she really needs to figure out how to take responsibility for her own life, her own actions, and what she's going to do to make things right for herself and her family.
I don't want to see Lucas swoop in and save the day. She needs to learn to be on her own, and he should be there to support her as a friend (and then they can fall back in love again).
