Lately, DAYS seems to be getting rid of some of the more interesting characters while keeping some we don't care about. So I thought it would be fun to throw out random character names and see what you think. What would you do if you were in charge?
I'll start with Lani. Stay or go?

I've never felt connected to her, not when she was with JJ nor now when she's with Eli. The character just falls flat for me.

Lani should definitely go as far as I'm concerned. She's flat and boring. And she's been on long enough to develop but she hasn't.
How about Sarah? She's Maggie's child so I guess she's part of the history but is that enough?

Lani doesn’t bother me as much as others do
I don’t find her interesting but I don’t find her character offensive either
The next person to leave should be stefan in my books
I can’t watch with him onscreen

Lani - Go
Sarah - She's very different than the Sarah I had in my head all these years. She's selfish, self-centered and has no self awareness. She doesn't interest me, so I'd say she's a "go."
Stefan - He can stay. I neither like nor dislike him.
How about Eli? He's been floundering around as mostly a background character. Stay or go?

These are my thoughts based solely on reading the recaps that people do on here daily because I just don't care to watch it. There's not enough interest for me to set aside the time in front of the TV for these storylines with everything that we have going on. The recaps are wonderfully done so please don't take these comments personally. Like these actors/actresses - you guys are do the best you can with what you are given.  Lani - go. I can't even get interested in her storylines when I'm only reading the daily updates here. She was a pointless character. Sarah - go. I just don't see anything to like about her. Like so many others, she seems very much the hypocrite and reminds me a lot of Eric when he was chasing and pining after Nicole when she was with Daniel. Stefan - eh. I'm not a fan but I don't dislike him either. I know we have to have villains on the show, but they've turned him into a one dimensional villain. It sounds like now they are trying to do an EJ redemption storyline with him and his protection of Chloe, but I really just don't care enough to get invested in it. Eli - this one has potential. They've dumbed him down and made him boring with Lani. I really liked him and Gabi. I wouldn't mind him sticking around if they can do something constructive with him. |

Lani-go...no story line of value
Sarah - stay (but only if they stop making her do things in a drunken rage)
Stefan - stay (I like him with Chloe and Gabi)
Eli-stay but needs a better story line
Adding Rex to the list of "go"...I don't really see him staying in Salem long term

I’m on the fence with Rex
I don’t care for the character as much but I do like the actor
I didn’t mind him in scenes with Chloe or anyone away from Eric or Sarah
Tbh I would keep every annoying character in exchange for getting rid of stefan

Lani just never had a real storyline so she is just wasted budget money.. go
Eli has potential as he was good with Gabi. Lani just dragged him down...keep
Stefan, I would have said go previously, but I am really liking this new actor. he brings a whole different depth to the character.
Sarah, seems just a fill in for Nicole but more selfish. She can go!
Rex, I actually like Rex (besides it being Kyle) I also think he has huge potential and this Sarah nonsense has brought him down..Keep!
Ted-he can go as long as they try to pair him with Hope. I feel no chemistry
Rafe can stay as long as he plays the cop. He needs to break it off with Hope because she treats him like dirt and makes him look bad.

I don't hate Lani but she is not a favorite of mine.
Stefan-don't care either way
Eli- meh on him too, he's ok I like him a little bit.
Haley and Trask-go
Wish they would bring back Steve.

Also, I like Ted I would miss him a little. Rex can go as far as I'm concerned. Rafe, I don't like him right now but I would if they had him in storylines that aren't annoying. Sarah-if they make her less whiny and paired with the right person, then maybe I would like her better.

I also don’t mind ted that much
Mainly cuz it causes issues for hope and rafe who are terrible together
I’ve never been a fan of rafe I find him obnoxious .... like he has a face that you’d want to just punch just cuz
I wouldn’t care if he left
Sarah is really annoying but I really liked her with Xander
So I wonder is it just this stupid obsession with Eric and childish story with Rex makes me hate her? I’d be willing to try her again in a different story with different people
