Jennifer decides to officially end her relationship with Jack this week. "Jack has been gone for awhile now and she feels that it's time to move on," explains Melissa Reeves (Jennifer). "He hasn't called - and she had heart surgery! She knows this side of Jack, but she feels that this time, it's gone on too long. She's lost her patience and there's no way to go except divorce."
But Jen isn't completely shutting the door. "She's maybe hoping this will secretly scare him or jolt him back into reality," notes Reeves. "It will be really hard for her to let go, because she's so loyal and committed. Jennifer never dreamed of getting a divorce; she loves Jack with all her heart."
Abigail supports her move. "She loves her mom and sees the way her dad is treating Jenn. She loves her father, but she's also feeling like an abandoned child, so out of the rebellion and resentment, she's maybe wanting her mom to move on."
In related news, Daniel also files for divorce from Chloe, and his and Jen's papers get mixed up. "They end up meeting and have this sad, common bond," Reeves previews. The two commiserate. "They have a connection and feel comfortable talking to each other. They have a neat little friendship."

Barf!!!! No Jenn and Dr. BadTouch please!!!
I would hold out hope of Jack returning if I didn't already know that Matt Ashford was doing a play right now. And if it isn't Matt, I'm not interested.

Even though Jack didn't leave Jennifer because he didn't love her, he left her to find himself and to find his way in the world....and he felt it didn't include Jennifer....she needs to move on, but I'm sure it will be very difficult for her.... And (I swear there is not a pod in my basement) I'm looking forward to Jennifer and Daniel.....I've never liked Jennifer and I've never liked Daniel...but it seems to me they have brought these characters around and improved them immensely.....BUT if Daniel kisses Jennifer and rubs those dang fingers all over her chest like he does with Chloe, I'm back to NOT liking him.....!!!!

Lol pallison! I really like them together too. I am not a Daniel fan but have always been a Jennifer fan! I like the friendship they have going right now. I like their banter and quarreling back and forth too. It seems very natural to me!

No, don't split up Jack and Jennifer. I love them.
I wonder if Daniel and Jennifer can get some kind of group discount at the law firm of Dewey Cheatham and Howe. Who else is getting a divorce? Oh, Melanie!
I don't necessarily dislike Daniel and Jennifer together, but for me, Jennifer defines Jack, and Jack defines Jennifer. Just like Steve and Kayla define each other. This will be sad for me.
Thanks for posting this GG!

I totally get that Jenn feels she needs to move on.Jack has abandoned her before,so I get that this would be the last straw.I'm not fond of the idea of her and Dr.I feel up my patients. This was done with Chloe and it's being done yet again.Daniel hooking up with a patient. It's really disturbing.

Oh that's true Delina. Daniel must have learned that the best place to pick up women is at the office.

The problem with all of this is that Jack wouldn't be doing any of it. The storyline is dumb and shallow to me and it comes across as something TPTB threw together as an easy way to excuse themselves from bringing back Jennifer without Jack. They would rather villainize a beloved veteran character than come up with a realist storyline. I'd rather they just exit Jennifer right back out of Salem than subject her (and Jack) to this type of writing. Yet again, they are wasting the return of a veteran character. Here's a hint for TPTB, if you stop wasting money on newbie characters, you could actually afford to bring back Jack with Jennifer and have a storyline worth spending money and film on.

@kpatch - a Car Talk fan too??? I love that show!
RE: Jack and Jenn - It seems like I should just wipe my memory clean from before the writers' strike a few years ago. Clearly everything that happened before then (THE FIRST 40 YEARS OF THE SHOW!!!!!) didn't really happen. So we're left with this second-rate mess. Characters that act one way one year, and then completely different the next. And, no they aren't 'growing,' the writers are just too lazy to stay faitful to what they THEMSELVES have put on paper before this week. ARGH!!!!!!!
Ok. I think I'm done. Man, that felt good.

But see here's the rub....I can't stand Jack and I can't believe I'm the only one (for example, KathyLu can't stand him either )....I always thought he was just a buffoon, played waaay over the top, and I just simply found him very irritating......and even though Jennifer was not my favorite character, I was thrilled they didn't bring Jack back and only brought Jennifer...and I must say, I've been enjoying Jennifer since she's been back..... And I can see Jack finding the need to go find himself....it is not rare at all for a person to reach a point in their lives and look around and say "what am I missing?"......I don't think it makes Jack a bad person or takes away from the things that people liked about him (but for the life of me, I don't know what they are)......and by the same token, it's not rare that the person that is left behind, decides to move on without them...... And what would they have Jack and Jennifer do....?? After all, it IS Days of our Lives and no one is happy together for any length of time....look what they have done to Bo and Hope, to Steve and Kayla etc. etc. etc....if they had returned together, I'm sure by now, there would be trouble in paradise... Boy, that sure was a lot of BS just to say I'm glad Jack didn't come back....

I loved Jack. I saw the messed up, troubled, sad man that needed a good woman to remind him that, no matter what had happened in his past, he was worthy of love. Keep in mind that when they were THE couple on screen I was 13 or so, so I may have romanticized their history to such a degree that it's pure fiction. But how I remember Jack is as a sad man that needed a LOT of reassurance. And that's what Jenn did. She saw through his emotional barriers and made him tear them down, which is why he ultimately fell in love with her.
I can understand a mid-life crisis, but if every wife left their husband during one of those, no one would stay married. It all seems like a cop-out for the writers. My guess is Missy agreed to come back no matter what, and Matt wanted more of a story. So we have jerky Jack.

@dd - Yes! Car Talk! Glad you caught the reference.
That is so true. Couples are only happy when they are offscreen, and, at that point, it's possible that they are only happy in our imaginations.

I agree DancingDays...Mind you,I too was 12-13 at the time.I just don't like the way they're painting Jack right now. It's fine to have a mid-life crisis,it's even fine to need to find yourself,I get all that, but they didn't have to do it this way....and not to the degree that it makes Jack look like a scumbag-dead-beat-dad.

I was not a big Jack fan for some of the reasons Pallison says, but it gets me angry because Jack does love Jennifer & his children. He would not do this!
I can't picture Dan & Jenn together at all... She is two goody goody and I can't get past the fact that Jenn hopefully wouldn't just jump into bed with him like everyone (except Maggie & Victor) seems to do. Ick, even to the thought!

You are right sportsgirl. Jack was always very devoted to Abby. That's when she was likeable, so maybe that's changed.
In Wednesday's show, when Jennifer called Jack, did he actually answer or was she ranting into his voicemail?
