Are Ben and Jordan products of their environment? (Read 205 times)

Jordan was raped repeatedly by Clyde but also from my understanding didn't Clyde's right hand man Jeremiah rape Jordan too? Jordan was also physically abused by Clyde. Ben was physically abused by Clyde as well and watched his father murder someone as a child. They were resetting bones from an early age because he was so violent with them. Clyde even murdered a pet they grew to love. I wonder if Clyde abused their mother too? If he did it is no wonder they both snapped suffering physical, mental, verbal and sexual abuse.

I know what Jordan did was wrong hell even reprehensible and unforgivable but it is no wonder she snapped. She's not well, clearly. As she was pleading to Rafe, I felt so sorry for her.

Then when Ben walked up and heard "family full of nutcases". That was cold. They didn't choose that. They were innocent kids who grew up in a toxic and damaging environment. Mental illness steming from trauma is not their faults. So I say yes they are products of their environment.

We are all part genetics and part environment, so yes, I believe that Ben and Jordan's behavior and mental illness were definitely influenced by the abuse they suffered growing up with Clyde.

Yes, anyone who had someone like Clyde for a parent would be very damaged emotionally. There is no one who could come out of that and have a chance of being normal without serious, effective mental treatment/therapy.  So Jordan and Ben are definitely products of their environment.

Yeah they definitely are but if their mother had lived who knows what kind of people they would be.
