This is merely speculation on my part: more like a theory but I think Haley is not Melinda's sister but she is Melinda's biological daughter. Melinda I think gave Haley up to her parents and her parents basically told Melinda that Haley would never know the truth about her true parentage. Melinda I think she must have had a teen pregnancy. I think Melinda must have met Haley's true father back in China and they must have fallen in love. Perhaps the parents thought that Melinda's boyfriend wasn't good enough for her or didn't approve of him. She must have gotten pregnant and her parents must have found out. Her parents find out and they want her to have an abortion. Melinda doesn't have the abortion but instead she decides to give her child up for adoption. Her parents couldn't have that either so what do they do? They decide to take Melinda's baby and raise her as their own. Hence Haley. Haley probably doesn't know the truth because Melinda's parents maybe could have sworn Melinda to secrecy.

Yep I have thought this since their first interaction and then JJ assuming she was Haley's mom.. she didn't like the reference.

Exactly what I keep saying unless her parents had a late in life baby I can't see that happening...more like Melinda was a teen mother who got pregnant young and of course being ambitious wasn't ready to be a mother gives up her daughter and the daughter would have been adopted out but the parents intercede and raise Melinda's daughter as their own...hence why Melinda's parents namely Melinda's father was distant because Haley wasn't his daughter but was his granddaughter and being a Chinese man probably thought that went against all culture. Then when he dies and the mom dies she sends Haley to America to find Melinda who is not her sister but her mother...it makes sense.

Cant agree there. Im thinking they are going to use this as a plot line to separate Jack and Eve. Jack knows she is illegal, he has told Eve. Eve will figure out she is related to Melinda. But not before JJ does something stupid and marries her to help her stay in the country. Of course that too is illegal and JJ will be in trouble again, yet they will blame Eve for bringing it out. In addition the Chinese culture wouldn't allow Melinda to have given her child to her parents. The family would have disowned her and the child is considered a bastard that goes with its Momma.
