from daytime royalty daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8606992/1/SOW: John's Harsh Sentence; 11/29 Issue Marlena and Carrie accompany John to his court sentencing and are optimistic that Judge Harris will accept a plea deal. “John’s not sure how it will turn out,” shares Drake Hogestyn. “His first concern is protecting his family. He wants them safe and out of danger. So he’s ready for whatever verdict comes down.” Before Judge Harris rules, Carrie presents an impassioned argument on John’s behalf, pleading for leniency. When it’s John’s turn to talk, he chooses to remain quiet. “In john’s mind, he isn’t convinced of his own innocence,” points out Hogestyn. “The fragments of memories that he’s been having about being in Paris trouble him. So he feels the best thing for him is to stay quiet.” John’s unwillingness to fight for himself frustrates Carrie, who only has his best interest at heart. “John is very stubborn,” asserts Christie Clark. “It’s hard to get through to him.” Judge Harris notes the severity of John’s crimes and says that hundreds of lives have been destroyed because people have lost their pensions. For that reason, she gives John the harshest sentence allowed: life in prison. “Marlena is beyond devastated,” exclaims Deidre Hall. “She never though it would come to that.” Hogestyn voices, “John knew it was a possibility. Did he ever think the sentence would be that severe? Absolutely not. But it is what it is.” The actor adds, “The judge probably had a lot of money invested in Basic Black. It went belly up and she lost everything, too. So she had an ax to grind. John could tell be the way she laid out the sentence. She was happy to be doing it.” Meanwhile, Carrie promptly sets her sights on preparing an appeal. “Carrie is horrified by what has happened to John,” says Clark. “She’s determined to keep fighting for him.” John saw a quick, but emotional good-bye to Marlena and Carrie, and is then led away in handcuffs. “It’s the hardest thing Marlena has ever had to watch,” Hall shares. He will get out. I doubt they brought him back just to throw him in jail and leave him there.
