As far as characters who could breathe life into Salem or characters who are needed back:

1- Philip Kiriakis- Victor's one surviving child and considering Victor has no other children you need someone to take over Titan. Who better than Philip? I mean after all he is Victor's son but also Philip is a legacy character. Not to mention he has ties in Salem with Chloe, his nephew Brady, his cousins Justin, Sonny but also his other nephew Will and Philip also has family in his niece Ciara and his great-niece Claire who he raised for the first year of her life. Not to mention Kate has hardly any children left in Salem. I mean we know Rex is on his way back to town but with Philip back it would be interesting to see Philip and Rex interact as brothers. Plus Xander and Philip also have a lot in common. Philip more or less is a black sheep just like Xander is. The issue though is who you can pair Philip up with? I mean there's Gabi Hernandez. You could pair her up with Philip but then again Gabi is the mother of Philip's great niece Ari but at the same time it would drive Kate nuts especially if Gabi and Philip became a couple. Or there's Philip's ex Chloe who you could pair him up with or there's Lani or there's Sarah Horton you could pair Philip up with.

2- Stephanie Johnson- Kayla and Steve's daughter Tripp's half-sister...you could bring her back to be added into the 20s and 30 something age group especially considering it lacks women. Not to mention Stephanie too is also a legacy character. She is a Brady after all and she is a Johnson as well but also with Stephanie back in town you could pair her up with Brady, Eli, Stefan or even Xander for that matter. Or imagine a Stephanie/Ben pairing? Could you imagine how Tripp would react to Ben being with his sister of all people? Or namely how Steve and Kayla would react to that. Plus with her back she strengthens the Brady family as well as the Johnsons too with her being back.

3- Theresa Donovan- Shane and Kimberly's daughter Tate's mother and Brady's ex. I mean with Theresa back in town Brady in a sense would have his son back. All be it Brady wouldn't have custody but his son would be closer to home but also with Theresa back she also adds to the 20 something/30 something age bracket too because it is in real need of women there as well. Plus with Theresa she is also a Brady and if anyone can give Eve a run for her money it would definitely be Theresa that's for sure.

4- Chelsea Brady- Daughter of the late Bo Brady and Billie Reed...Chelsea being Hope's step-daughter and Ciara's half-sister as well as Claire's aunt with Chelsea back in town she has ties to Abby seeing as how Abby is her best friend but also Chelsea she has ties to her grandfather Victor too seeing as how Chelsea she was working for Titan wasn't she at one time? Plus Chelsea is also Kate's granddaughter as well and Kate could always use having some more family around. Issue is who to pair Chelsea up with?

5- Nicholas Alamain- Carly Manning's son with Lawrence Alamain...Vivian's great-nephew he could be the dark, brooding Alamain prince that this show definitely needs but also Nikki is a legacy character. Plus he can revive the Alamain family...breathe new life into it. I mean after all he's related to Stefan. Plus he can revive Alamain as a company and I remember Alamain was its own separate entity as a company which was on Titan and on DiMera Enterprises' level so Nikki can make that company a powerhouse in the business world to go up against those two.

Good ideas! I would also like Gabi's father and her brother Dario to come back-although I don't know what kind of storyline they could have. I agree about Theresa and Stephanie, I think they should come back as well. And Philip, of course.

Eduardo if he were to get out of prison then he could actually guide Gabi because she's clearly in need of parental guidance but her brother Dario is a fugitive on the run. Philip returning would be great but they would most likely have to recast the role again. Why not Jacob Young? He played JR Chandler on All My Children and played Rick Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful...he would be perfect as Philip.

The only way I would want Philip back is with Jay Johnson. The last recast didn't work out at all.

I was never a fan of Theresa so don't really care for her to come back. I could go along with it as long as they kept her out of Brady's orbit for a partner.

I'd like to see Melanie come back. I know many weren't a fan of hers and I was against them pairing her with Brady romatically, but I didn't like how their relationship ended because of Theresa using Tate against her. I'd love for her to come back and have a relationship with her sister Holly and brother Parker. And now with Sarah in town, she could get to know her Aunt as well.

I agree Philip as jay cuz I hated his recasts
I liked melany as well
Could do without Dario, Eduardo or any more members of the Hernandez clan, never was a fan
I wish peter reckle would return as bo
Hope hasn’t been watchable without him

Only problem is that Jay doesn't want to come back as Philip so there is the issue right there so you would have no choice but to accept another re-cast for Philip

And as for Melanie I would love it if Melanie came back because she has ties to the canvas through her late father Daniel but also her Grandma Maggie is in town and so is her Aunt Sarah who she can develop a relationship with as well as her sister Holly and her brother Parker but as for Melanie who can you pair her up with? I mean there's Xander, Brady again, Stefan, Eric the man who killed her father accidentally or there's Rex who you can pair Melanie up with

Definitely Cassie Brady I would bring back especially now at this point because Cassie's twin brother Rex is in town but also Kate could use having another one of her children in town and Cassie could you imagine her and Stefan as a couple? I know Kate would definitely explode at the thought of her daughter being with Vivian's son especially considering Kate killed Stefan's mother and Stefan being a DiMera I know Roman he would have a problem with his daughter being with Stefan considering what Stefan did to Steve and Kayla but also what he has done to countless people in town and then to have his youngest daughter fall for him...could you imagine
