Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal Judith Chapman, who played Angelica Deveraux, will be returning to DOOL. She will now be playing Diana Cooper, Leo Stark‘s (Greg Rikaart) mother. Fans are excited a familiar face will return to Days of Our Lives.

Judith Chapman is well-known in the daytime community. She first appeared on As The World Turns playing Natalie Bannon Hughes. Playing Sandra Montaigne, Judith next appeared on One Life To Live. Judith joined Ryan’s Hope playing Charlotte Greer. Playing Ginny Baker on General Hospital was Judith’s next soap opera gig.

Finding her next daytime home at Days of Our Lives Judith Chapman took on the role of Angelica Deveraux which she played from 1989 until 1991. Finally, she joined The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and The Restless playing Gloria Simmons Bardwell.

I figured we'd soon see Leo's mother. I'm surprised (but thankful) they're not taking the opportunity to make Leo the son of someone like John or Justin.

Why?

Unless she's coming to take him back to whatever hole he crawled out of, I don't know why she's being introduced. I would much rather see more focus on core characters instead of expanding the families of minor characters and giving them more relevance.

I have always liked Judith Chapman's quirky take on the characters she plays. Her entrance will move the Leo story along. I don't think that her stay is a long one.

If I remember correctly, she played his mother on the Young and the Restless as well. I think the two played off each other well, but am kinda sad that DOOL is doing to Y&R what they did to Passions - bringing in characters in almost the same roles they played on other soaps. That ruined some of those for me.

Per Jason47, Since news broke awhile back that Judith Chapman would be returning to "Days" as Diana Cooper (Leo's mother), fans were wondering if Diana could in fact be Diana Colville, who was John's love interest from 1987-1989. Chapman's interview in the new issue of TV Guide (which doesn't mention Diana's name) offered this teaser: "Her top-secret character is one viewers have seen before, a woman who has a history with...John Black." Genie Francis played the role of Diana from 1987-1989. Chapman recently reprised her first role on "Days", the late Anjelica Deveraux, for the special Halloween dream episode last year.

I really hope Leo isn't John's son. Every new guy in Salem doesn't need to be a newly discovered son of a long time Salemite.
