I won't watching. I do not know any parent who would have sex right after finding out their child was dead. It makes no sense at all. I like EJ, and I used to like Sami and EJ. However, this story just doesn't make sense.

There will be no reaming out of anyone here Delina but I disagree for these reasons. Although Sami is impulsive, she is a lot of other things that greatly conflict with her ever acting this way. First, she doesn't cheat. If anything, Sami is downright obsessive when she is in a relationship. Second, she shot her first rapist in the appropriate part of his anatomy... that's Sami. Third, Sami, nor anyone else would hear their child is dead and immediately fall into bed with anyone. The fall out that the writers are trying to spin as the silver lining to justify this atrocious act could have happened in any number of ways that didn't once again promote rape as acceptable behavior. If they wanted Sami to cheat so that Will would turn on her, fine, just don't have it be with her rapist and as a result of thinking her kid is dead. There is something much more important at stake than any storyline ... but what's worse is that the writers intentionally chose this act exactly because they knew it was wrong and disgusting.... which tells me among other things that they are too incompetent to write compelling "fallout" to this or any other event. The only thing I look forward to with these writer is the announcement of their replacements.

I'm just as appalled as any one of you about WHO she cheats with.It IS an atrocious decision by the new writers.I do like that they're bringing the Sami story full circle by having Will find out.The big thing that I don't want to see is Rafe being all understanding and saying "You were stressed, you didn't know what you were doing, yada yada".Rafe has been too wishy-washy with Sami for too long.Sure he's a great guy who loves his wife, but really, enough is enough.I would like to see him lay into her for this, but who knows?I do like how this is going to impact Will though. He's going to have enough on his plate to deal with soon,so to see him have to deal with this too should be interesting IMO.

Delina, who it is with bothers me greatly too. They have had only a few scenes together since he gave up custody of the kids so there is no buildup to this. As far as buildup, there has been more between her and Austin and with Austin/Rafe clashing. I wonder what the reaction would have been if she fell into hysterics into Austin's arms and it turned into comfort sex instead of angry sex. Now that would have messed up Will because of the whole paternity issue for the first few years of his life and then his living with Austin and Carrie, so there is a loyalty there vs. the loyalty he would feel towards Rafe and how much of a family atmosphere Sami and Rafe created for him and his siblings.
To me, that might have been *barely* tolerable to watch, but EJ and Sami....I'm going to have the barf bags handy.

That's what's so shocking to me.I totally expected at some point that she'd end up cheating with Austin.I mean the build up is there. There's tension between BOTH couples. It would only make sense.Sami and Austin are pretty much both on the same page concerning the issue of John's innocence,so I expected them to turn to eachother. And you're right, that would definitely mess Will up,lol.

Not to suggest you're behind the times Fluffy ... but yes I was referring to those of us with DVRs. Hubby is already disqusted with Comcast's prices so he doesn't want to fork out even more money for a DVR unfortunately.

^^ It is expensive but with my work schedule, I would never get to watch anything without a DVR so it's worth it.

In a train-wreck kind of way, I'm starting to look forward to how this plays out. Don't get me wrong, it's still atrocious/wrong/all-other-kinds-of-bad-words on EVERY level. But I kind of want to see it. Let the tomato throwing commence.

^^ No doubt that was the reaction the writers were counting on.... but the fact remains that Days lost a million viewers the last time they tried for a "train wreck" factor and that's when they had been holding strong in the ratings for a year. They're going to find that the insult will cost them many, many more viewers than the "intrigue" will retain.... and that's exactly what they deserve.

I guess I'm the odd one out because the train wreck of last year is what actually brought me back to the show. Well, that combined with the gloriousness that is James Scott. *sigh* He was just so dastardly evil that I couldn't look away. I took comfort in the fact that it's a ficticious town with fake people and it isn't real life at all. Because it was so far removed from my real life, I guess that's why I enjoyed it so much. Granted, I hated (HATED) when the kids were put in danger (we didn't need to remove Johnny's eye to learn about eye cancer). But I didn't mind the evil character that was/is EJ. In the 80s (even when I was a child) I liked evil Stefano. I loved seeing how bad he could be. Not sure what that says about me, but whatever. Polarizing, complex characters are what makes good soaps. Everyone can't be all good or all bad. But all of that is just my opinion.

@dd, I pretty much agree... I don't want my soap to be like real life, but in the same sense, I prefer it to be evil or happy... This is plain sick & I do not look forward to it. I thought the writers were going for more romance. I have seen very little of that so I am disappointed. I yearn for scenes like Steve & Kayla in the hot tub! I do hope for a Nicole/Rafe pairing after this.. Now that I could get excited about!!! ;D

I'd rather see Rafe with Carrie. They deserve each other. Nicole needs someone stronger, whether it's EJ or Brady (but I'm leaning more towards EJ - evil or not).

We are all entitled to our opinions and differing views on characters/storylines but Days didn't lose a million viewers in less than six months simply because they disliked a character or storyline. For a business to suddenly lose one/third of their customers in that short of time, they either got some major competition next door or they did something to gravely offend their clientele. Days didn't suddenly get a new competitor but they did do something that was gravely offensive to their cutomers. They left because of a real life issue that they were sick of Days mishandling. The problem isn't that Days (like all soaps) sometimes depict harsh realities of life, such as people being raped or children being kidnapped. The problem is the way that Days treats a serious, life-altering, violent crime like rape as if it's a joke, a mild little annoyance to a woman that she quickly "gets over" and then falls for the criminal responsible. That is the issue at stake here. It isn't about differing opinions over a fictional character or villains being villains, it is about a real life issue that is very real to way too many women. As I stated in an earlier post, it is a fact (not opinion) that TV is well known to be an influential medium in our nation and frequently used to counter dangerous lifestyle choices (i.e., drinking and driving) and educate victims on their rights and resources for help (i.e., date rape).... but how is Days choosing to use their voice? They are choosing to promote violent crime as acceptable and rewarded behavior that women never report and quietly accept and quickly forget about. Instead of showing Sami as a rape victim surviving and rebuilding her life, they continue to focus on the criminal and the way he is constantly rewarded for his actions and how he continues to maintain control over his victim. It is a message of acceptance for those who commit acts of violence against women and a message of hopelessness to their victims. There is no justification or rationalization that can ever excuse such a dangerous message of hate against any population.
I was born decades after WWII and I'm not Jewish, yet if a local business owner decides to hang a swastika in his store, I'm not going to do business with them and I'm going to encourage everyone I know to boycott them as well. It's just a symbol and it is far removed from my own life but it is a message of hate that has far reaching and potentially dangerous consequences. It doesn't matter to me whether it's "only a one time thing" or not. They could take it down 10 minutes later but the message has already been sent... and it is already clear what kind of person the business owner is and the message of hate he would promote if he could get away with it. And that is the way I see Days and the message of hatred they are promoting against women. It makes no difference that it's just fiction and only happens once, the message is clear and can't be retracted once sent. Even if Days decides on a rewrite because they lose too much business over it, TPTB responsible for that message are still the same people who are willing to promote it again if they think they can get away with it. Just like I wouldn't mourn over the local businessman going bankrupt as a result of his actions; I won't mourn when these writers are fired. If it leads to Days being cancelled, they brought it on themselves and it will be a shame that a current set of low life administrators ruined a 45+ year show but that is the natural consequence of corrupt leadership.... and I certainly won't mourn that their ability to broadcast messages of hate has been silenced.

I have been struggling for awhile now to keep up with Days due to my crappy schedule and insane events in my life. And I've been making every effort to stay in touch here when I can. I was in line at the store today when I saw the headline on SOD that Sami and EJ have sex....I scanned the article and got the gist of the story. I cannot express my disgust, my disappointment, my saddness and my rage at what Days has done and is doing. I will no longer make any effort to watch the show and I'm afraid that means I will miss my friends and co-posters here. I love what kpatch has done with this site and I wish her the best, she's a beautiful person and a wonderful dear woman. I never could muster much support of fans who quit or threatened to quit watching the show because of characters leaving etc. but let me try to explain just one of the reasons why I will no longer be a supporter of Days of Our Lives in any manner. I volunteer at the Family Crisis Center in my little town. Not only do they work in joint with the courts and law enforcement to council men that have been convicted of abuse but they run the local woman's shelter. My daughter-in-law is the director and does a wonderful job. There was a case just last month where the woman was stripped of her clothes and beaten so severely by her husband, that her bowels evacuated, at which time he threw her to the floor and forced to eat it. He sat in court and glared so menacingly at the Center's employee assigned to him that she later refused to have contact with the man. No, he didn't do time, he does counseling for a year. The woman had been in the shelter before and always went back to her husband because he was sorry and loved her. And Days of Our Lives thinks the woman should have gone back to him. A few days later I was driving through the parking lot of our local shopping center, where I saw a woman standing next to a car with a man in her face yelling at her and grabbing her trying to force her in the car. The woman was carrying a baby. She broke away from him and took off across the shopping center, the man jumped in car. I quickly pulled up to her and asked her if I could help and opened the door for her....she told me I couldn't help and asked me to go. Yes, I drove away, which is one of my private deamons I will battle. The man drove up to her and she got in the car. God, what that poor woman's life must be like....but Days of Our Lives thinks the woman should have gotten in that car. Last summer, a woman was found next to the train tracks beaten so badly she couldn't be identified by her facial features. Her ex-boyfriend had attacked her for leaving him. And Days of Our Lives thinks he loves her and she should give him another chance. I won't go on, it is nauseating.....I can not watch a show that condones violence against woman and glorifies a rapist and an abuser. I will no longer watch a show that turns a violent abuser of women into a love interest for his rape victim and his many other abuse victims. I can not and still feel human. I can not and still hold my head up. I can not and face each day with any hope for the women who need help so desperately. I can not.
