I thought it was my birthday or something when Melanie says to Nathan.... "Philip was the wrong choice.... but you are tooNow should I be getting enjoyment from someone else's pain...?? I guess if it is that twit Nathan, the answer is a resounding "heck yes...!!!" Not only is his behavior irritating, irrational, and just plain stupid, his looks are getting on my nerves lately too.....I"m am sooo ready for his departure.....!!! So how's your day going... ?

I'm looking forward to him being gone! As DJM said in another thread "and to think I actually wanted Nathan and Melanie to be together!"
He has been looking sick like lately!!! Maybe he was supposed to come across that way? I dunno but I didn't like it at all!

Like PAllison. I really enjoyed Nathan getting the kiss off that Melanie gave him. I was such a Mel and Nathan fan at one time.

I didn't like seeing someone's (even Nathan's) heart broken, I usually don't, but I was happy that Melanie chose herself over all of them. Nathan never really had a chance anyway. I think the writers' thought process for him went something like this:
"Hey, let's bring in a new Horton." "Great idea! But who can it be?" "Let's say it was someone's son/daughter from off screen and they just decided to move back to Salem." "Ooh, I like that. We've even got this guy that just auditioned, Mark, and he looked great in the screen tests." "Good! He'll be a doctor in the grand Horton tradition." "Excellent! Then what?" "..........uh............" *crickets*
And that's how it went.

You've nailed it.
The problem with the writers is that they don't invest a little time in a character. I think if they'd have shown maybe a few days worth of romance in Mel/Nathan in the beginning, people would buy it.
If they invested a little more time in Nathan and Mel, than Nathan badgering Chloe, we'd have bought there was something there.
However, the writers are too quick to build up something and tear it down the next day. The need to stick to a character and not sacrifice their actions for a current plot.
