Ben Claims Hope Set Him Up: After Hope gets new evidence on the cabin fire, she arrests Ben for attempted murder of Ciara. When Ciara comes to the station and questions Ben, he blames Hope. Robert Scott Wilson states that Ben knows how much Hope is out to get him. He is being honest with Ciara, and she sees that. She is getting to the place where she can just look into his eyes and tell that he is telling the truth and that she trusts him.
Shawn arrives, then Hope. Any headway Ben made with Ciara just falls apart. Because of the cold, hard facts, Ciara begins to turn against Ben, states RSW. She might not really want to, but she knows that is most likely that it is the best thing to do.
Ciara then runs out and Hope goes after her. Shawn stays behind with Ben. RSW says that Ben tells Shawn everything that he has done to turn his life around and how Ciara has stuck up for him so many times. It all comes together with the fact that Hope has this hatred for him. Shawn is smart and he starts to put two and two together. Did Hope set Ben up???
“Marlena” Wakes Up: Marlena’s ventilator is removed and she comes back to life! Or at least that is what her loved ones believe.
Mary Beth Evans explains that John and Roman come up with a plan after Belle brings the advance directive to the hospital. It states Marlena doesn’t want any heroic efforts to keep her alive. She is on life support, so they have to do what she wants. Kayla tries to do the right thing but it is very murky and a tough decision for her. Marlena is one of her oldest and closest friends. Sometimes, you need to step out of the box and go with your heart. This definitely puts Kayla’s career in jeopardy.
The plan John and Roman come up with is a doozy. Roman and Kayla orchestrate a switch that keeps Marlena hooked to the ventilator while Hattie takes her place. They then “pull the plug” on “Marlena” and Hattie then wakes up. They take Marlena off to a secret, abandoned floor of the hospital. It is being remodeled so they make a whole separate suite for her there. Only a few people know she is there. They are hoping that they can keep Marlena there in the hospital where they can keep an eye on her and monitor her until she (hopefully) comes out of her coma. In the meantime, Hattie can take over her place.
Hattie agrees to the scheme because it means getting out of jail. However, filling Marlena’s shoes proves to be a lot for her to handle. Especially when Belle, Eric, and Sami visit their “Mom”. Mary Beth says it gets nerve-wracking when Hattie starts going off at the mouth like she does. John and Kayla are always wondering what she is going to say or do next. Sami begs for Marlena’s forgiveness for shooting her but “Marlena” has some choice words for her and for Belle. John and Kayla are just biding their time, hoping Marlena will recover and come back to them.
John tells Hattie that how she acted towards the children was uncalled for, yet her behavior continues when she makes advances towards Roman, who fends her off. Roman, however, is not able to keep Belle from visiting her mom again and this time “Marlena” rips into Belle for insisting they pull the plug. John stops her and makes her apologize, but later Hattie throws him for a loop when she announces that she wants to tie the knot immediately. Mary Beth says that the situation keeps getting more and more stressful. None of them know if Marlena will ever come out of her coma. They are all waiting and doing what they can do, but it’s a crapshoot with Hattie.

All the Hattie stuff sounds completely convoluted. I don't think a prison would really let her out so that she can once again pretend to be the woman whose life she tried to steal only about a year ago. It will be comedic at least, but I think yet another miracle recovery would be more realistic than the direction that this storyline is about to take. That or the soap opera staple of having Marlena wake up with a completely new personality.
