Chapter 16e
Brady looked toward the terrace at Chloe and Nicole, who appeared to be having a heated conversation. “Look at them out there. They've had a love-hate relationship with each other for nearly two decades. Just like you and me.”
“I don’t remember the love part,” Philip said flatly.
“Okay, maybe not, but we’re still family. That means something, at least it does to me.”
Philip drew his wallet from his back pants pocket and took his credit card out to pay for the pizza when it arrives. Tapping the edge of the card on the counter, he said, “My father has taught me by example that family is disposable.”
“If that’s how you really feel, I feel sorry for you Philip.”
“Don’t be. I’m relieved to be out from under my father’s thumb. Living in that mansion was like being in a medieval fortress. Every time I lived there, the old man watched me like a hawk, questioned my every move, made it impossible for me to be a man. I was thirty two years old and I was treated like a child, in my case, a servile one. I was a fool not to move out years before.”
“Can’t argue with you there. Sometimes he can be overbearing,” Brady agreed reluctantly.
“Yeah, sometimes,” he said sarcastically. “So, why do you still live there, Brady?” Philip asked. “Look at you. You’re 40 years old and you live with your grandfather.” Before Brady could defend himself, Philip added, “Hell, I know why you don’t move out. He makes it real cushy and comfortable for you, doesn’t he? Your meals are served, your room is attended to like it was a hotel, you have butlers and maids and chefs. Victor sees to your every need. That’s because he never wants you to leave. That's the difference. I'm the prodigal son.” Remembering the words Xander said years ago in Greece, he muttered, “And you're the prince.”
Brady planted his tongue against his cheek. “Don’t you think it’s time to get past all this? It’s your father you’re angry at, not me.”

Tbh I think it’s a bit of both that Philip is angry at Victor has pitted these two against each other for years They even fought over women as well.... I see both their views but it’s easy to be understanding from Brady’s side as he’s the one being favored In my family we know who the favorite is, I used to get upset, but now I use it to my advantage, I just go through him first cuz what ever he asks he gets lol

Yeah, I’d say it’s both Victor and Brady that he’s mad at.

I agree that he's mad at Victor, but I think he resents Brady more than being angry with him. Brady didn't make the choice, Victor did. However, there may be some anger in there that Brady hasn't broken free from Victor's pampering, so that hopefully Victor would see that he does have a son to be proud of.

Yeah this is jealousy that stems from Philip resenting that Víctor doesnt treat him the way he treats Brady.

I like Philip opening up to Brady.
Victor frequently ramps up the rivalry between Philip and Brady.

Philip probably should have left this alone...this conversation is counterproductive when it comes to getting the baby back.

Chapter 16f
“Don’t you think it’s time to get past all this? It’s your father you’re angry at, not me.”
Philip looked at Brady for a long moment. “I’m not angry with you. Sorry if it sounds that way. Hell, you saved my life, I’m not dismissing that, but I’m not you, Brady. I’m not the golden grandson who can do no wrong because Victor feels guilty that he wasn’t there for your mother. Victor adored your mother. He adored Bo’s mother. Mine he despises—both of mine if you count Vivian. I’m a constant reminder of two women he detests and distrusts.”
“I don’t think that’s true.”
Philip raised his brow. “Think about it, Brady. You get put on a pedestal, you get Maggie,” he said more bitterly than he intended. “You get Marlena and John. … You get Belle and Eric and Hope and all the Bradys and I… I get disowned.”
Silence fell over the room for several minutes. Brady broke the silence by stating, “Your father really did a number on you.”
“Well, let’s not give Kate a pass. She did her share.”
Brady nodded slowly. “I’m sorry, Philip.”
“Hey, don’t be,” Philip said quickly. “I don’t need any of them. I finally have the woman I’ve wanted my whole life. Chloe and Parker both. They mean everything to me, and I couldn’t ask for more.”
“So, it’s serious between the two of you? I mean, you guys don’t have the best track record.”
Philip glared at Brady. “Look who’s talking.”
“Sorry,” Brady said. “I shouldn’t have said that. I hope you’ll be happy together this time, I really do. I also hope you’ll find your way back to Salem one day. I think you’ll find you have more people who care about you than you think. I wish there was something I could do or say to—”
Philip began to feel embarrassed at how childish he'd probably been sounding. He never meant for the conversation to turn this emotional or to say as much as he did. This was all old news, but still, it was hard for Philip to let go of the anger and pain. Taking a deep breath, Philip went over to a cabinet and took out some dishes. “Pizza’ll be here soon. If you want to do something for me, help me set the table.”

I agree with Brady. There are more people in Salem who care about him than he thinks.

It's good that Philip gets it all out. It doesn't excuse his nastiness towards Brady (or vice versa) but it does explain things and put it in a different light for Brady. I hope that Philip listens to him and realized that a lot of people do care. With Kate as his mom, he gets Lucas, Ally, Jennifer, JJ, and the whole Horton clan which does still include Maggie. Heck, even with as furious as Nicole is at Chloe, she's always had a soft spot for Philip.

I didn’t take that as nastiness He simply pointed out how it was I know he’s embarrassed but it was probably good to lay it out Maybe these two can mend their relationship if there is one to salvage

I'm glad these two are talking honestly. This is long overdue.

I mean, Philip’s not wrong...and Brady probably did need to hear how Philip feels. Brady’s initial response was better than I would have expected—but what is he going to do (if anything) when this is all over to help Philip see that more people care about him than he thinks?
Also—I need them to focus on the baby right now—I’m getting antsy!
