I really want some couples to root for but there aren't many current couples that I am excited about. The only younger couple I'm rooting for is Paul and Will but I think it's clear that isn't meant to be.
The rest of the couples I like are the veterans Kayla and Steve, John and Marlena, Abe and Valerie, Victor and Maggie.
I want to root for Jennifer and Eric but I'm not feeling a big spark. I want Chloe to have a real romance.
I could probably make a longer list of couples I'm rooting against or am lukewarm about.
I miss the epic romances from the super couple era.

Always Kayla and Steve, but since he is leaving the show I guess that will change. Abe and Valerie are a nice couple. I think Eric will be interested in Nicole again when she comes back. Jennifer is nice but there is not a lot of spice in the relationship. And even though Chad and Gabi aren't a couple anymore I still liked them together. John and Marlena I feel lukewarm about. And of course Victor and Maggie, I like their relationship, they are both feisty.

At the moment there are more couples I’m rootong against then for
Vets are all great (not hope tho)
But honestly nothing that exciting
I’d like chad and Abby if they had better writing but I can’t get excited when they keep shoving Stefan and The Who’s the daddy story in our face
I won’t even say unroutable but it’s actually unwatchable
Don’t care for Bens reign of terror and bored with storylines that never leave the room literally
I don’t care for Jen and Eric cuz Jen became a consolation prize after Nicole left
Brady and anyone is just terrible these days
I dunno
I’m basically at patch and Kayla are my favs and they never get screen time

I was rooting for a Eric & Jennifer, but a spoiler I read even may ruin this one. The only really happy couple is John & Marlena as they are planning a wedding. Even Victor & Maggie I can't root for because Victor over & over hides things from her. Kayla & Steve? Well we know a spoiler again that will ruin that one.
Forgot Abe & Valerie, but they hardly even show them as a couple.

Great thread question, fluffysmom ! I admit I'm grateful that we haven't had to watch any more of the Chloe/Lucas "romance." It's just not compelling and they have no romantic chemistry. They didn't before and they don't now. I wish we'd see more of Jennifer and Eric. The show does a poor job of identifying couples and building romances. Examples: JJ/Lani, Hope/Rafe, Tripp/Ciara. There are too many couples that have no chemistry or they kill them by adding a triangle. Triangles aren't necessary in every romance. Use some imagination people. I like Paul and just about anyone but Paul always ends up being the odd man out. He deserves better. I like Valerie and Abe. Chad and Abby are among the blandest couples ever. I'm intrigued by JJ and Theresa's potential. Lastly, I don't like what's happening with my all-time favorites, Kayla and Steve. |

There's no romantic build up. There's a conversation a date or two (sometimes offscreen) and suddenly the two people are a devoted exclusive couple. A triangle is a bad idea when there's nothing to root for. |

To answer the question "Where are the couples worth rooting for," I think they are in fandom fiction. Our fan fiction authors here at MyHourglass have better ideas of couples chemistry than the people who are paid to produce the show. |

I have yet to find a single couple currently together I have any interest in or desire to cheer on.
Marlena and John have been going for years, that's a given, really nothing to get overly excited about.
Rafe and Hope or as I call the Roped into nothing. Is just that. Not even going to give them lukewarm.
Paul I root for just because he is Paul, a great character who once again is getting the short end of the stick it seems. Never liked Sonny and Will together and absoultley hate what they have done to Will. I was so excited when they said he was coming back and now Im like who the heck is this drool boring individual. Yeah I know he lost his memories, he also lost his spark entirely.
Chad and Abby? Never cared for them. I liked Chad before he knew he was a DiMera and was dating Melanie. Also like him with Gabby
Under no circumstances JJ and Thresa or JJ and Lani. If I was told it had to be one of those two Id pick Theresa. Only because Lani is dull as dishwater.
Jennifer and Eric? Yawn. Brady and Eve? Maybe if they could actually do more than crawl in bed. Im missing Vivian and the trouble she caused, missed Kristen, miss Stephano. Hoping when Sammi returns we can get some interesting story going. Even the usual teen drama has taken a back seat to Rope dullness. I love Claire and wish they would do more with her than make her into a slut. Tripp another wasted character. Stephan. Love love love Stephen. He deserves an interesting romance with someone from the past that can really stir things up. Too bad he is related to Kristen. Bring back Phillip and have him shake up the family. Come one writers give us something.
