from daytime royalty daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8596537/1/2-Day preemption news for Thanksgiving weekend; "Days" goes dark for new annual 2-day Nov. preemptions "Days of Our Lives" will be preempted on Thursday, November 24 (Thanksgiving Day) for "The National Dog Show" and Friday, November 25 for "NHL Hockey: Boston Bruins vs. Detroit Red Wings." While the Thanksgiving Day preemption is an annual tradition, the Friday preemption is a new addition this year. NBC's recently-renewed NHL contract allows for NBC to air a daytime hockey game on the Friday after Thanksgiving each year for the next 10 years. Although "Days" will now be preempted two days in a row each November, it will no longer be preempted two days in a row each July, since NBC no longer has the rights to Wimbledon Tennis. These will be the 294th and 295th national preemptions in "Days of Our Lives" history. www.jason47.com

I will forgive them for Friday, but only because it is my Red Wings

I read the first one as the "National HOT Dog Show" and thought "Who gives a flip about hot dogs?!?!" LOL
Seriously, though, there isn't any football they could show on Thursday? And dogs are better than soaps??? Hockey isn't my thing, but at least it's a sport.

I have no problem with pre-emptions as long as they're planned in advance. It's the impromptu news conferences and Presidential addresses that piss me off. Thanksgiving has always been a pre-empted so no big deal there. And Friday, whatever. I can think of more important things to do those days, like, um, I don't know, HAVE A BABY, than watch Days!!

I don't mind the pre-emptied shows. Esp. on those days, as Turkey day is a family day, and the day after I'll be hitting the stores for some wicked deals.

Ooooooh!!! I forgot about Black Friday!!! I can't wait to see what the deals will be this year. I probably do about 75% of my xmas shopping on that day. Of course, I always end up buying junk for myself too.

They don't show any of that stuff. I will miss having that option when it goes off the air. I'm okay with Friday since I love shopping on Black Friday. My hubby refuses to go to Toys R Us at midnight again on Thanksgiving night. He can't handle Black Friday.

^^Hubby and I like to watch those too. We laugh at the poodles and how prim and proper they look. LOL. Plus, it's always funny to watch the handlers get pissed off if their dog doesn't do exactly what they want.
