Back around the end of May, we received a letter in the mail where Jacob had been selected to become an Ambassador of Music. The selection was based on the students character, manners, maturity, etc. both in and outside of the classroom and also at his music ability. Jacob is a very strong Trumpet player and is absolutely loving it. By being selected for this, it means that Jacob has an opportunity to tour and play in 7 different countries in 16 days. The trip is across Europe with stops in England, Germany, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Austria I believe. He will be playing at least one concert in each of these places and then getting to do some sight-seeing. I know they are going to the Louvre Museum, Tower of London, Paris (including the boat ride), a concentration camp, a ferry ride across the English Channel, and a whole lot more.
The good part about this, is that I can go and enjoy the sites with him. The bad part of all of this is the cost. However, when I think about what all they are getting for the cost, I couldn't have done this on my own at that price. I'll come up with the cost for me somehow, but I've been trying to think of fundraising ideas to help cover at least some of the costs for Jacob. For Jacob alone, the cost is $6,300 and that doesn't count the passport, fees, souveniers, etc.
So I was wondering what fund raising ideas might be out there.

This is an awesome opportunity and an honor for Jacob. Good luck with the fundraising!
We've done a lot of school fundraisers but I'm not sure what would be a good way to earn that amount of money.

Thanks. Like I said, I'm not looking to earn the full amount. Anything we can earn and put towards the cost helps. I've got a friend that mentioned a bowling tournament or bowl-a-thon. Knowing the amount of bowlers that both him and I do, he said that it should be easy to get people involved to help raise some money. I really like that idea and we will probably do it at some point, but I also want something to where Jacob has to work for it. I don't just want it handed to him.

Start a gofundme site and send notices to all of your family and friends. Also throw a pitch at the Store Managers of Wal-Mart and other stores that allow groups to solicit donations in front of there stores on Saturdays.
