Radical dude!!! Like, it’s so totally awesome! It’s 80s week on Dancing With the Starrrrrrrrsssssss. OMG and it’s the Bangles!!!!! They’re still completely awesome. In every way. And apparently Brooke is taking the theme to the extreme – “Working Girl” shoulder pads and all. Btw, I mean the movie, not the profession. Just for fun: Hope and Maks (Tango) – Starting off the show is Hope and, oh dear. She is really trying to have the right attitude, but sadly that’s making her stomp around the floor and look terrible. Slightly drunk even. She looked totally out of control and NOT in a good way. Great song, but terrible dance. Even Maks looked frustrated. I can just see his thought bubble now – “Calm down woman, and go where I lead you!!!” My Score: 6 Judges Score: 8, 8, 8 24/30 Skip to 1:47. Carson and Anna (Jive) – Oooh! It’s Wham!! Bless his heart. That’s really all I can think when I watch him. He’s so sweet, but so terribly uncoordinated that I still cheer for him while I cringe at the same time. Bruno described it as “wacky fun” and I’d have to agree with that. I mean, do you really need me to point out the technical flaws? I didn’t think so. My Score: 6 Judges Score: 6, 6, 7 19/30 Skip to 2:12. Nancy and Tristan (Rumba) – Wow. She is just NOT a likeable person. At all. But, this dance really isn’t all that bad. I’m just as shocked as you are, I promise! Amazingly, her balance was better and she held her own. I still can’t believe I saw what I just saw. It wasn’t incredible, but it was pretty darn good. But I still don’t like her. I have to point out that Carrie Ann said she didn’t like the there wasn’t any heat between Nancy and Tristan and that she would have liked to have seen more emotion. As the words “That’s gross! She’s old enough to be his mother! That is totally NOT how they should be dancing it!” were falling out of my mouth, Len said nearly the same thing. As much as I usually think Len is just a big fuddy-duddy, I’m really enjoying him this year. But I think that’s mostly because he keeps telling Carrie Ann to STFU. My Score: 8 Judges Score: 7, 7, 8 22/30 Skip to 2:33. JR and Karina (Samba) – Whoa!!!! JR is shaking his boo-tay!!!! This could be a killer dance for him. I am so excited!!! Never mind that he’s Latin, JR can DANCE!!!! That whole routine was fantastic! I could nit-pick a couple of things, but I won’t. He’s just wonderful. Love him!!! My Score: 10! Judges Score: 9, 9, 10! 28/30 Skip to 2:11. Rob and Cheryl (Rumba) – Uh-oh. Rob is supposed to have chemistry with Cheryl and he wants to me mad sexy. Like Maks, or Val, or Derek, he says. Cheryl advises not to dream so high. Good advice. Twice he grabbed her butt. TWICE! I was yelling at the TV “Hey now!! That’s inappropriate!” Me! Calling someone out for being inappropriate! I know, right?!? Overall, though, it was a nice dance. It wasn’t spectacular, but it was pretty good. He had the bravado the dance requires, but something about it wasn’t quite right. My Score: 8 Judges Score: 9, 8, 8 25/30 Skip to 2:07. Chaz and Lacey (Samba) – So Chaz is going to do the same dance as JR. I’ll let you compare them. Lacey decided to bring in her Daddy (he really is a famous dance coach; we have some of his DVDs) to coach Chaz, mainly to show that big guys can still get down. Hopefully he had a good effect on Chaz. Wow. I’m impressed. It wasn’t crazy hard choreography, but it was well done. I can’t believe I’m typing this next sentence but, Chaz just danced very well. He was really shaking it and I think he did really well. My Score: 8 Judges Score: 7, 7, 7 21/30 Skip to 2:19. David and Kym (Tango) – From his rehearsal footage, it looks like David is really getting into this and has found a new confidence in himself. That makes me so happy! I love it when people discover hidden talents through dance. The routine hit all the right notes for me. The attitude was dead on and the movement was really good. I would like to see his steps be a bit larger, but it was really good. My Score: 9 Judges Score: 8, 9, 8 25/30 Skip to 2:37. Ricki and Derek (Foxtrot) – John Waters came by to “Creep” on Ricki. (If you don’t know why “Creep” is in quotes, check out “Do the Creep” by The Lonely Island.) I wouldn’t really think “Easy Lover” would be a Foxtrot, but wrong dances with weird songs is consistent for DWTS. And the Roger Rabbit in the middle of a Foxtrot? Even if it is 80s week, there are some things you just shouldn’t do. But the Foxtrot parts were ok. I think she stumbled a bit from her high horse of last week. My Score: 8 Judges Score: 8, 8, 8 24/30 Skip to 2:03. Here’s “The Creep”: My LeaderboardJR………………… 10 Nancy…………. 8 Rob…………….. 8 Chaz……………. 8 Ricki……………. 8 Hope………….. 6 Carson……….. 6 Judges LeaderboardJR………………. 28 Rob……………. 25 Ricki…………… 24 Hope………….. 24 Nancy………… 22 Chaz…………… 21 Carson………...19 Bottom Three: Hope, Carson, Chaz Going Home: It’s really hard to tell at this point. It seems like the producers are going for a “I can’t believe HE/SHE was eliminated!” this season. But my prediction is Hope. I hate to lose Maks, but I’m afraid she’s the one going home. But who knows. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow. I added a poll to see who YOU think will go home. We'll pick a winner in a couple of weeks (although I think we all agree on who it will end up being). Happy Dancing!

Hope--How am I supposed to watch her when all I could see was Maks' chest?! But yeah, a bit rushed and spastic. Compare to David's dance later and he was way more in control of his movements than Hope was of her movements.
Carson--Why didn't they toss off those pom-pom things at some point in the dance? They were so dang distracting. Oh, I get it...we're supposed to be distracted from the lack of technique. That sounds more catty than I mean it to be. I love Carson, but this dance just didn't suit him.
Nancy--It was an okay dance. The best I think she's done. But my eyes kept getting drawn to her free arm/hand and it was limpy like she didn't know what to do with it at times.
JR--WOW! That pretty much sums it up.
Rob--A better pairing to sell sexiness than Nancy and Tristan. It was a decent dance.
Chaz--his best dance by far. He actually moved, and I think he had more hip movement than Nancy. It's great that they brought in someone to show him how to move and to give him the confidence to do it.
David--he really did good. I can't remember much, but I did like it.
Ricki--What makes this show so hard sometimes is you have Samba and then you have Foxtrot. Samba, when done well like JR's wow the crowd. Foxtrot isn't a wow the crowd dance. Plus Ricki just didn't have it technically on this dance. I will say that breaking the hold at that point did fit with the music rather well, but it did seem like weird thing to do because it was a Foxtrot.

There are two different kinds of foxtrots - American (which you can break hold all you want) and Standard (where you don't). Allow me to demonstrate:
American: (This shows Nick Kosovich - who coached JR last week)
Standard: (None of these folks have been on the show, but they all are quite famous in the Ballroom world. ETA: Correction, some of these have been performers on Results night, but noone has been a pro partner to a star.)
The second one is the one Len knows. THAT'S why he keeps harping on "not breaking hold." The first style is much more exciting to watch (IMO). I think the pros are trying to walk the fine line between both styles. If they only do Standard (the 2nd one), Len loves it, but it's boring to the uninformed viewer. If they do American (the 1st one), Len hates it, but the viewers enjoy it more. Catch 22.

Poor Hope just doesn't get it. At least she has Maks to help make her look good.
As DD says, bless his heart. Carson is trying but he just isn't a ballroom dancer.
Nancy wasn't bad. I watched the Dr. Phil special yesterday and Dr. Phil and Robin were both completely up Nancy's butt the whole episode. (and Cheryl's)
JR was amazing. Nuff said.
I just don't like Rob. Even though he danced ok, it doesn't make me like him anymore.
Chaz was decent yesterday. I was glad to see Lacey's dad giving him pointers and showing him how to move.
I loved David. There is just something about him that I really like and he is just a lot of fun to watch.
Ricki was just so so for me. I don't think she is really all that good.

What was the Dr Phil special about? Why was he talking about Nancy?

They had Tom and Brooke on and then they had on Nancy and Tristan, David and Kym, Rob and Cheryl and Carson and Anna. The whole show was about DWTS. Mark taught them how to do a little dancing too. Dr. Phil is a huge fan of Cheryl so he was way far up her behind plus they like the Nancy Grace show so they were doting on her quite a bit.

Ugh. Dr Phil is annoying, to me. Way too pompus for his own good.
