I have seen posts saying that Tripp & Claire are cousins... Someone please explain how that is possible. Sometimes the family connections are so complicated

I don't see it either sportsgirl. If Kayla was his mother they would be cousins but she is not. Joey and Claire are cousins. I maybe be missing something.

Agree. Steve isn't related by blood to the Hortons, Bradys or Blacks, so I don't see how Claire could be related to Tripp. Tell them they're wrong, sportsgirl LOL. |

Tripp and Claire are not cousins. Some people are confused and saying that is a reason they can't be together.
Claire's parents are Shawn and Belle. Tripp's parents are Steve and Ava. Thus, as others have said, Tripp and Joey are cousins through Steve but Tripp and Claire are not related. Similar to how Eric and Theresa are cousins but Eric and Eve are not because Eve is not Kim's daughter.

Unless I'm missing something - Claire and Tripp are not related by blood but they are related by marriage. It would be like 2nd cousins and then you are talking about step-family. Claire is the daughter of Shawn and Belle. Shawn is the son of Bo and Hope Bo is Kayla's brother Kayla is married to Steve Tripp is Steve's son with Ava Unless there was some adoption in there and Bo is not really Kayla's biological brother, the "quirky" lineage could be drawn. Maybe some are trying to say they are cousins because Joey and Tripp are half brothers. Problem with that logic is that they aren't half brothers through Kayla. It's through Steve who is not directly related to the Brady's. That's Kayla. |

They aren't blood related since Kayla isn't Tripp's Mom. They are cousins by marriage but it wouldn't really feel like it to them since they didn't grow up together or even know each other until Tripp came to Salem.

As mae00 pointed out, the keyword/prefix is "step" for these two. If they'd grown up together as step-cousins then it would be squicky. Even still, there isn't any blood relation between them. |
