Hi, everyone! As a way of helping people gain interest in my book series, I have decide to do a Character of the Week feature on my Welcome to Keystone facebook page. Here is the first one I posted for anyone who's interested: Character of the Week: Dennis Lawrence Originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dennis Lawrence first moved to Keystone after marrying his wife, Annie, with whom he now has eight children. During the twenty-five years he has lived in Keystone, Dennis has traded the career he once held in Yellowstone National Park for one in politics. After serving two terms as Keystone’s mayor (a job which has taken countless hours away from his family), Dennis is now facing a battle for reelection against his toughest opponent yet. Will Dennis triumph over his competition and continue to reign as Mayor of Keystone? Or will he decide to journey back to his days as a park ranger so that he can finally spend more time with his family? Read the Welcome to Keystone series to find out! Update: I figured out how to copy the pictures from my website instead of my facebook page. As a result, I give you Dennis Lawrence!

She got her wish when she accepted a summer job at Yellowstone National Park, the place where she met her husband, Dennis. Now the mother of eight children, Annie’s daily adventures over the last several years have mainly involved running her household and working part-time as a school bus driver for the Keystone School District. As a new school year begins, Annie will find her husband and children tackling tougher challenges than they’ve ever faced before. Will her adventurous spirit, positive attitude, and quick thinking be enough to continue to hold her family together through these hard days, or will she find herself once again wishing to escape? This year, she will be teaching Gerard Riches, the son of her lifelong rival, Sapphire. Keystone Character of the Week for 7/31: Jody Lawrence Growing up an hour away from Los Angeles and the glamour of Hollywood, it was almost inevitable that twenty-year-old Jody Lawrence, the most cheerful and optimistic of Dennis and Annie’s eight children, would catch the acting bug. As a result, she has spent her life thus far enrolling in drama and theater classes, starring in school plays and musicals, and driving up to LA for auditions in the hopes of eventually being discovered. Thanks to her persistence in achieving her dream, Jody is due to finally start making some headway toward officially breaking into Hollywood during her sophomore year at Berklandy University. However, this big break will not come without challenges and consequences, some of which could be deadly. Will Jody have what it takes to survive in Hollywood? Or will she find herself pining for her once anonymous life back home in Keystone? Read the Welcome to Keystone series to find out! Copyright 2017 by Stephanie Peterson

Keystone Character of the Week for 8/7: Darrin Lawrence Ever since he began school, Darrin Lawrence has always been very serious about his education, a stance that earned him honors in junior high and high school and the nickname Scholar Boy in his household. But Darrin also holds other interests outside of school such as helping others by volunteering at community events, exploring the great outdoors as his father once did in his youth, and, most importantly, spending time with his girlfriend, Aubrey Hendersen. As a freshman at California State University at San Pepe, Darrin is now finding himself with the perfect opportunity to further both his education and his personal interests. However, his first semester is about to quickly become very stressful as he finds that the liberating world of college is very different from the structured atmospheres of the schools in which he has previously thrived. Will Darrin find a way to successfully balance his rigorous college courses with the activities he has always loved? Or will he be forced to give up all his hobbies in order to continue his tradition of being a straight A student? Read the Welcome to Keystone series to find out! Copyright 2017 by Stephanie Peterson

Yes, fluffysmom, that's my artwork. I get the basic outlines for the people from paper dolls, but then I individualize them by giving them different hairstyles, eye colors, clothing, and accessories. There are actually only about six or seven paper dolls that I use, but I make all the people look different. I do all my own cover art for my novels too. Here is an example: If you look closely, you can see that Dennis (the curly blond man in the back) is actually the same paper doll outline as Johnny (the teenage boy in the bandana in the front), but they look totally different once their personal details are added.

Thanks! Artwork is something I have to work at if I want it to come out well, but it's always worth the effort in the end.

Keystone Character of the Week for 8/14: Johnny Lawrence At age seventeen, Johnny Lawrence, the fourth of Annie and Dennis’s children, is most interested in football, cars, music, and his girlfriend, Delia Drake. But while Johnny’s family normally views him as an immature teenage boy, he also has a much more serious and caring side. A side that will lead him to do anything to protect his siblings. As a result, as his junior year at Keystone Regional High School begins, he will quickly find himself becoming absorbed in his younger sister, Caterina’s, problems with popular girl Cahuenga Riches. However, Johnny will soon find that defending Caterina will result in problems for his own reputation as a popular quarterback at Keystone Regional as well. Will he continue to take the heat for the sake of keeping his little sister safe? Or will Johnny decide that Caterina is old enough to sort out her problems with the school’s queen bee on her own?
