I haven't watched OUAT since the second season and lost interest in it. The recent news of almost all of the stars leaving at the end of this season (tomorrow night) has piqued my interest in the show. The show was renewed for another season next year that won't include the 6 actors that are leaving tomorrow in the 2 hour finale.
Is there anyone on the board that could give me a brief synapsis of what has happened since to catch me up before I watch the finale tomorrow?
I know that Regina/Evil Queen and Rumple are staying on the show for next season... Are they still the bad guys? Are they good, now?
Thanks in advance!

My Mom loves this show. I've thought about checking out the seasons from the library.

There's really no way to give you a short synopsis, Bruce, but I'll see what I can do. I may have certain things out of order, but you'll get the gist. Season 3: The major thing to know is that Peter Pan is Rumple's father...and he's evil. Well, selfish, really. He gave up being a father so that he could be young forever. He seduced Henry to Neverland and tried to get him to join the Lost Boys. Emma and co. saved him. Upon arriving back in Storybrooke, they were harrassed by Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West. As it turns out, Zelena and Regina are half-sisters, but Cora gave up the former when she was a newborn. Regina and Robin Hood fall in love, but Zelena ends up pregnant with Robin's baby when she pretends to be Maid Marian. Zelena is later locked up. Hook and Emma fall in love. Season 4: Snow Queen Elsa puts Storybrooke under a deep freeze. She's unable to control her powers. Emma's savior powers are also going all out of whack, and she's afraid of what she may do with them. Together, Elsa and Emma learn to control their powers. Elsa returns to her home with her family. Then, Maleficent, Cruella DeVil and Ursula show up to cause trouble. The gang are informed about a mysterious Author, who has the power to control their stories. Where the previous Authors all merely wanted to observe, Isaac, the current Author, is using the Magic Quill for his own purposes. After Isaac temporarily rewrites history, Henry defeats him, becoming the new Author, and sets everything right. Gold and Belle marry, but Belle learns that Gold tried to control Hook and rejects him. Wanting to prove he's good, Gold tries to give up being the Dark One, but the darkness has to go somewhere. Emma sacrifices herself to the darkness, becoming the newest Dark One. Season 5: Dark Swan (as Emma is known) sends nearly everyone to the land of magic, but they all reappear moments later with medieval clothing and no memory of what happened. Through flashback, it is revealed that Emma sent them to Camelot, where they got into an altercation with King Arthur. Merida also appears for a while (though I don't remember much of her story). Merlin tries to help Emma fight the darkness, but after Hook is fatally injured, Emma goes full Dark Swan. She creates a second Dark One, and makes Hook its host, bringing him back to life. She wiped their memories of any of these events and returned them to Storybrooke. Upon the return of their memories, Dark Hook summons the consciousness of all previous Dark Ones to take over Storybrooke. Emma helps him see what he'a doing his wrong, and both vow to give up the darkness. Gold voluntarily takes it back, becoming the Dark One once more. At some point, he and Belle got back together, and Belle became pregnant. She broke up with him again when he became the Dark One Upon relinquishing the darkness, Hook dies from his previous injuries. The gang head to the Underworld to find him. Hades, the Lord of the Dead, doesn't like them being there and saving the souls of some of his captives, such as Regina's father and Hercules. Zelena (who got out of prison to help with the Dark One mess) and Hades fall in love. Emma finds Hook, but Hades needs a sacrifice before he's willing to let them go. A battle ensues, with Robin and Hades both dying. Regina is heartbroken. All return to Storybrooke, but are soon transferred to the Land of Untold Stories, which is overseen by Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll found a serum to separate his two personalities. Seeing Jekyll as a kindred spirit, since Regina wants to be good now, she takes the potion, creating a separate body for the Evil Queen. Season 6: The gang return to Storybrooke. Hyde and the Evil Queen team up. Emma begins having visions of battling a hooded figure. Hyde and Jekyll end up killing each other. Belle's pregnancy is sped up, resulting in her giving birth to a son. To keep the baby safe, she gives him to the Blue Fairy, but he is stolen. There's a storyline involving Aladdin and Jasmine that I don't remember much about. Apparently Aladdin was a previous Savior, but was defeated by Jafar. The hooded figure from Emma's visions arrives and turns the Evil Queen into a snake. The figure is revealed to be an adult Gideon, who is Belle and Gold's son. He reveals that he was stolen and raised by Gold's mother, the Black Fairy. He has come to destroy the Savior. However, the group soon find that the Black Fairy is controlling Gideon. Gold frees him from her spell. Regina realizes to truly defeat the Evil Queen, she must confront her own darkness. She removes some of the Evil Queen's darkness, giving it to herself, then sends her evil half to a parallel universe, where she falls in love with a darker version of Robin. Zelena helps the team more, and starts to become a better person. The Black Fairy threatens all of Storybrooke and begins to create the ultimate curse. Emma finds out that, before she was born, her parents put a song inside of her. This fibally lets her realize that she doesn't have to fight the Black Fairy alone. Emma and Hook get married. Moments later, the Black Fairy casts her ultimate curse. The Final Battle has begun!

Thank you André DiMera ! This was very helpful! It sounds very interesting. It seems to me with everyone leaving, that there is an openness and possibility of so many new things next season. Who all is leaving? I know of Emma, Hook, Emma's son, Snow & Prince Charming, right?

I honestly don't know. Last I heard, Emma and Hook were staying on a recurring basis, but that may have changed. I think Gold and Regina are also supposed to stay. Those are the only ones I know. As for the rest, I have no idea who's staying or going. but tomorrow's two-hour finale is gonna be something! Also, season 7 has been described as being like a totally different show. Incidentally, Bruce, there's gonna be a 1-hour behind the scenes special just before the finale tomorrow. That would be able to recap even better than I, as I'm fairly certain I've transposed some stuff. As you can see, a LOT has happened since the end of season 2! I'm glad you liked my recap, though!

I saw the recap show on the guide and set that on the DVR as well, LOL. It should be very helpful and lead everything into the finale. I hope its going to be good!

Okay André DiMera - I LOVED the finale last night! But I do have a question... Why did Henry call Gold "Grandpa"? I think I seriously missed something essential to the story, lol.

Ah, I neglected to put this in the recap I gave you the other day, Bruce. Henry's father is Neil/Baelfire. Baelfire is the son of Rumplestiltskin. Therefore, Gold/Rumple is Henry's grandfather. And I LOVED the finale, as well! I can't wait to see where this goes next season! The actor they got to play adult Henry is great! There was so much awesome stuff in the finale!

Thanks again, André DiMera - I would have been completely lost without you. A lot of my favorite shows have been canceled this season, so I really look forward to watching season 7 of OUAT - I wanna see what direction they are going to do with Adult Henry.

You're quite welcome, Bruce! I'm looking forward to season 7, as well! The only ones I know for sure are returning are Regina, Hook, Gold and adult Henry. Though, Emma's supposed to be a special guest in an episode or two. It'll be interesting to see what happens!

André DiMera - I heard today that OUAT is moving to Friday Nights next season: It will be taking the timeslot of Last Man Standing/Dr. Ken, so that pretty much gives you the reasoning for their cancelations.

That's what I heard, too, Bruce! I'm excited, but slightly nervous. When shows make moves to friday night time slots, that's normally not a good sign. I hope I'm wrong, though! Either way, so excited for whatever comes next!

I'm really looking forward to it too, André DiMera ! It really has piqued my interest with this new storyline with Henry. Hopefully Friday night won't harm the ratings, I know it is usually ratings purgatory.
