Kinda refreshing to see all these women at Philip's feet instead of him longing for someone. But, if he's going to...hook up, shall we say, with all of them, he's going to be burning the candle at both ends. And something tells me he likes it that way. I think Philip's actually out to break some hearts.

Philip: How old are you anyway?
Stephanie: I’m old enough.
Philip: Old enough for what?
Stephanie: Old enough for whatever is going through your dirty little mind.
Philip laughed.
Philip: You’re direct. I like that.
Stephanie: 22.
Philip: 22 what?
Stephanie: You asked me how old I am. I’m 22. How old are you?
Philip: I’m 28.
Stephanie: That’s perfect.
Philip: No. You’re perfect.
Stephanie: Wow. I think I’m in love.
Philip: How did you get you get the job at Sterling Cooper?
Stephanie: My good looks.
Philip: I’ll buy that.
Stephanie: It’s a paid internship. I’m going for my MBA at Salem U.
Philip: Masters in Business Administration. Good for you.
Stephanie: Where did you go to college?
Philip: School of hard knocks.
Stephanie: What do you mean?
Philip: I joined the Marines, remember? I learned everything I needed to know in kindergarten.
Stephanie: You’re a funny guy.
Philip: Most people don’t think so.
Stephanie: No, I don’t mean funny ha ha. I mean ... one minute you’re all idealistic and the next you sound like an old man.
Philip: Thanks a lot.
Stephanie: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean that to come out so insulting. You’re just awfully cynical for someone so young. Why?
Philip: I ... I guess I’ve had a lot of disappointments in my life.
Stephanie: Like what?
Philip: You ask a lot of questions.
Stephanie: I just want to know all there is to know about you.
Philip: That will have to wait for our second date.
Stephanie: Oh?
Philip: Have dinner with me. Tonight.
Stephanie: What if say no?
Philip: I don’t think you will.
Stephanie: Pretty sure of yourself, huh?
Philip: No. But I’m pretty sure about you.
Stephanie: Actually, I have school tonight. But I’m free tomorrow night.

TITAN HEADQUARTERS

Philip got off the elevator and headed toward his office. He stopped at Marie’s desk to pick up his messages.

Marie: Mr. Kiriakis, there’s someone here to see you.
Marie motions to the young redhead sitting in the reception area. The girl smiles and waves at Philip. Philip nods, then looks at Marie.
Philip: Does she have an appointment?
Marie: No sir. But she says it’s important.
Young woman: It is! I can change your life.
Philip laughs and the girl gets momentarily flustered.
Young woman: Oh wow. You have a killer smile. Um. Ya, listen. I can help you make a success of your new business. You’re launching an online bookstore, right?
Philip: How do you know about that?
Young woman: I’m in the business. It’s my job to know these things.
Philip: You work? You look like you should be in high school.
Young woman: I’m 21 years old and I’ll have you know that I’ve been working since I was 15 when I worked in the warehouse of the biggest online bookstore in the world. Back then I fulfilled orders.
Philip: I wasn’t asking for your bio.
Young woman: Wait. I’m not finished. I just moved here from Seattle. I worked in brand development for Amazon dot com.
Philip: Now you’ve got my attention. Come into my office. Marie, hold my calls.
Philip leads the young woman into his office.
Philip: What’s your name?
Young woman: Melanie Layton.
Philip: Are you an industrial spy?
Melanie laughs an exaggerated laugh.
Melanie: Ha. Ha. Ha. I don’t think you have anything industrial I want to steal. Au contraire. It’s the other way around. You want what I’ve got.
Philip: Is that a fact?
Melanie: It certainly is.
Philip: You said you used to work for Amazon. What happened? Why did you leave?
Melanie: I got fired.
Philip: Ah. I see. Okay, thanks for coming. Don’t come again.
Melanie: Don’t ya wanna know why I got fired?
Philip: Sure, fine. Tell me why.
Melanie: I sort of slept with the head of the company. The board of directors frowned on that.
Philip: Hmmm. And why are you interested in Titan?
Melanie: I saw your photo in the business section of B-2-B magazine. The caption said you were starting this new business. I wanted to get in on the ground floor.
Philip: I see. And what do you think I can do for you?
Melanie: Uh uh. Like I said, I’m going to show you what I can do for you.
Philip: Okay. I’m going to let you prove it. You’re hired.
