Chapter 9
BRADY PUB
ROMAN: It all started a long time ago. I was thought to be dead. But, I wasn't. I had been abducted by Stefano DiMera. He was obsessed with Marlena, and used me as a pawn to try and get to her. But, he couldn't use the real me. So, he had some of his doctors change his face...
SAMI: Oh, yeah right, John!
ROMAN: It's true, Sami!
Roman pulled a picture out of his shirt pocket. He handed it around for everybody to see. It had three pictures. The first was of Roman (Wayne Northrop), the second was half-Roman and half-”John” (Wayne Northrop/Drake Hogestyn), and the third was the current Roman who, until recently, had been going by the name John.
ROMAN: And, if that's not enough, I can bring in Dr. Rolf to corroborate my story.
BELLE: Dad...why would Rolf agree with you?
ROMAN: While I was “RoboJohn” a few years back, Rolf and I got pretty friendly. Plus, I pay him more than Stefano ever has.
SAMI: Come on! These pictures have obviously been touched up!
BO: Nope. I can tell a touch-up job when I see it. And these pictures are the real deal.
ROMAN: If I may continue. I returned to Salem under my real name, Roman Brady, but I had no memory of anything before the accident. That's when I found Marlena. She gave me my memories back. But, then, she was presumed dead. She wasn't really. When she came back, she was with a man who looked like the original me. But, it wasn't. It was one of Marlena's old ex-husbands: Alex North.
Carrie put a hand over her mouth.
HOPE: Oh, god.
SAMI: Unbelievable! The fact that you would bring up that part of Mom's life is proof to me that you are anything but my father!
CARRIE: Sami!
ROMAN: Okay. Let's just say that, for one second, you're right.
SAMI: I am right!
ROMAN: No, you're not. But, let's say, hypothetically, that you are. Why would I bring up Alex if I didn't have to? Why would I make something like that up?
SAMI: Because you're a twisted S.O.B. who wants to brainwash us all into feeling sorry for you!
LUCAS: Sami!
ROMAN: You;'ve always been stubborn, Samantha Gene, but I never thought you were this stubborn.
SAMI: Am I stubborn for not believing every word you say without any proof? Am I stubborn for not believing you're my father without having a D.N.A. test to prove it?
ROMAN: You want proof? You want D.N.A. tests? How about these?
Roman puled a stack of papers out of his jacket. He handed them to each of his children.
ROMAN: I ran D.N.A. tests on all of you to make sure that I was the father of all of you. And, I am. Also, the last test is a test of my own D.N.A. from both before and after the surgery.
SAMI: D.N.A. tests are easy to fake!
ROMAN: Then, have another one done. You can have as many D.N.A. tests done as you want, but I am still your father, Sami. And that's a fact.
SAMI: No, you're not. You keep trying to be, but you're not. You never will be. If you're not my father (pointing at Chris) and he's not my father, then my father is officially dead. And so are you, John. For trying to fool me and my family into thinking that you were my father, you're dead to me!
MARLENA: Sami, that is enough!
Sami ran out of the Pub.
MARLENA: Sami, get back here!
LUCAS: I'll deal with her, Marlena. You should be with the rest of your family right now.
Lucas walked out of the Pub.
EUROPEAN AIRPORT
Nicholas Alamain is sitting at one of the terminals waiting for somebody. After a moment, it becomes evident who he is waiting for. Melanie walked out of the gate at the terminal Nicholas was waiting at. Nicholas stood up and the two hugged.
MELANIE: Nikki, it's so good to see you!
NICHOLAS: It's good to see you too, Mel. How are you?
MELANIE: I'm okay.
This wasn't entirely untrue. Physically, she was fine. But, emotionally, she was still trying to recover from the shock of being cheated on by Philip.
NICHOLAS' HOUSE
Once they got back to the house, and Melanie unpacked all of her things, she told Nicholas about what had happened. Nicholas spent a while comforting her and got her to calm down after a little while.
MELANIE: What am I gonna do, Nikki?
NICHOLAS: Well, I know one thing: if I ever see Philip Kiriakis again, I'm gonna kill him.
WHITE ROOM
An undisclosed, very white room. A man is looking at an unseen image on a wall. Another man walks up to him.
MAN #1: The moment has been prepared.
MAN #2: Excellent.
MAN #1: I believe now is the time to strike.
MAN #2: You would be correct.
MAN #1: It's a pity.
MAN #2: What do you mean?
MAN #1: It's a shame that things are about to get so hard for her...
