We Love Saops interviewed Crystal Chappell and she talked of Carly's future.....I linked the video interview and gave you the highlights as per DR...... www.welovesoaps.net/2011/03/we-love-soaps-tv-236-crystal-chappell.htmlDaytime Royalty condensed the interview as follows: I'm very excited about what they're giving me. It's so well-written. It's the first time Carly has ever been Carly without Bo, and I think that's so important. I mean, she was in a horribly abusive relationship, really held prisoner, but you know, she's a doctor so she puts on her armor and she doesn't let the world see what's really going on. [Carly and Bo breaking up is] sort of the tipping point for what happens next. He's the thing she thought she had and it went away, and now she's sort of unraveling. As an actress it's delicious to play. So delicious!" "Carly is going to isolate herself from the people she cares about and the audience will see her unravel. She's got a VERY hard struggle ahead of her, but it's truthful and it's really well-written and I'm having a great time playing it." "Carly's had the bruises and the broken bones. Her child's life was threatened [by Lawrence]. I always thought, 'She killed a man, how on earth could she live with that?' Psychologically, a lot led up to that moment and she's still haunted by it. My husband (Michael Sabatino) is coming back on the show for a day, so literally, she's haunted by it." "They hired an actor to play Nicholas on the phone. Carly killed his father, and even though he witnessed all the abuse it's still something that's hard for him to deal with, so they're not doing well, their relationship. It's just another thing for Carly to deal with and try to find the solution. She wants her children in her life, but how do you get over something like [your mother killing your father]?" Near the end of the interview, I think she accidentally spoiled something she wasn't supposed to... Crystal: "I want to see all the stuff Carly's dealing with work itself out, but an addict is always an addict." Damon: "What is she addicted to?" Crystal: (coyly) "I didn't say addict... addiction. Did I? She's addicted to pain, I guess. She'll always have that cross to bear. We'll see what happens. I'm not going to say anything else." daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8466163/1/

Thanks for posting! I think this sounds like it could be very interesting. I would love to see Carly as Carly and not a part of Bo.

So it sounds like we won't get Nicky back in Salem, just a phone call to his mother.

Addicition? Wonder what she gets addicted to? My guess is painkillers of some kind, maybe Vicodin (a la House). It would be nice to see a real storyline deal with addiction, but it seems to be handled very poorly on the show.

Addicted?
I'm glad they acknowledged that her relationship with Nicky. I think they're missing a huge opportunity to not have him appear on the show to confront her about staying with an abusive husband, killing him, and hiding the fact he had a sister from him.
That's a good story line right there! Plus, there's plenty of ladies in Salem they could pair him with.

Now the description of all this sounds good and juicy and character-driven...but the track record for the writers on character-driven stories isn't the best. I do like Crystal and hope this is a good story for her. I'm excited to see this play out. I am glad they are finally going to acknowledge what Lawrence put Carly through for all those years and they will at least make a connection back to Nicholas, even if it only short-term or just over the phone.
