SAMI & LUCAS’ APARTMENT
Johnny and Meadow were over and had just finished telling Sami and Lucas what had happened. Sami hugged Johnny.
SAMI: I’m just so glad that you’re okay, and that you’re back to your old self!
JOHNNY: Me too, Mom.
Lucas put a hand on Johnny’s shoulder.
LUCAS: It’s good to have you back, man.
JOHNNY: Thanks. I guess now the only thing I have to figure out is where my Father is.
SAMI: You don’t need to worry about that. Your father isn’t going to hurt you or your sister anymore, I promise.
JOHNNY: But, how do you…Mom, what did you do?
SAMI: I didn’t do anything! At least, nothing that can be traced back to me.
JOHNNY: That doesn’t sound like nothing. Let me ask this, is he still alive?
SAMI: Of course! Much as I could have murdered him for what he did to you, I chose to deal with things in a different manner.
JOHNNY: Why do I not like the sound of that?
SAMI: I don’t want you to worry, okay? Like I said, your father isn’t going to hurt you or your sister anymore.
There was a knock at the door.
SAMI: I’ll get it.
Sami went to the door and jumped back when she found Sister Mary Moira on the other side.
SAMI: My god!
Sister Mary Moira raised an eyebrow and fingered the ruler which was up her sleeve.
MOIRA: I will thank you not to take the Lord’s name in vain.
SAMI: Right. Sorry, sister. I just wasn’t expecting to see you. I didn’t know nuns made house calls.
MOIRA: Clearly. I do not normally do things like this, but I have chosen to make an exception.
MEADOW (whispering): Who’s that?
JOHNNY (whispering): That’s my Great-Aunt, Sister Mary Moira Banks.
SAMI: Let me guess, you’re here collecting for charity. Didn’t think it was that time of the year already.
MOIRA: There is never a time when we should not be willing to give to those less fortunate. But in any case, no, I am not here to collect for charity. I am here because you and I need to have a talk, Sami Horton!
SAMI: About what?
MOIRA: My nephew.
SAMI: Right. Well, as you can see, Johnny’s doing just fine. In fact, he got his memory back.
JOHNNY: Hi, Aunt Moira.
MOIRA: Hello, Johnny.
The nun nodded her head at Johnny, then turned back to Sami.
MOIRA: Whilst I am pleased to hear that Johnny has regained his memories, I think you and I both know that he is not the nephew to which I am referring. I am, of course, talking about Elvis.
SAMI: What about him? I haven’t seen him in weeks, thank go…goodness.
Sister Mary Moira’s eyes narrowed.
MOIRA: Stop trying to play dumb with me, Sami Horton! I know what you have done!
LUCAS: Sorry, I hate to interrupt, but what exactly do you think that Sami did?
MOIRA: I want you to know that I considered what we talked about the other week, and this morning, called my sister to suggest that she and Edmund take a trip out here to help me set Elvis back on the straight and narrow. However, whilst talking to my sister, it became clear that a visit from her would not be necessary, as Elvis had arrived in England a day or so after my conversation with you!
SAMI: Wait, are you saying that E.J. fled the country? Wow. I am shocked!
LUCAS: That wasn’t a very smart thing to do, especially since he’s currently under investigation.
SAMI: No, not smart at all.
MOIRA: It seems that he arrived in England under mysterious circumstances. My sister and brother-in-law found him, beaten, on their front porch!
SAMI: Wow.
LUCAS: Someone must’ve really had it in for the guy.
MOIRA: I think we all know who it is who had it in for him, and how he ended up in England! What I want to know, Sami, is why you did not wait for me to consider our discussion as I said I would!
SAMI: Sister, this has nothing to do with me, honest. As I said, I am shocked.
Sister Mary Moira pointed her ruler at Sami.
MOIRA: I do not believe you are telling the truth!
SAMI: Well, I’m sorry, but it is the truth. I did not beat up E.J., or send him to England.
MOIRA: But I am certain that you know who did!
SAMI: Not a clue.
LUCAS: It’s a real mystery, that.
Sister Mary Moira took a deep breath.
MOIRA: I can see that I am not going to get the truth out of either of you, so I shall be making my departure! I only pray for your sake that your conscience leads you to tell the truth!
Sister Mary Moira turned on her heel and left, slamming the door behind her.
JOHNNY: Mom, Lucas, what’s going on?
