BLACK PATCH
Tate and Steve explained to John about the phone call Kristen had made. John sighed.
TATE: This doesn’t make sense. Why would Kristen DiMera want to talk to me about my father?
John and Steve exchanged a glance.
TATE: I mean, I know she was obsessed with my dad or whatever. At least that’s what I’ve heard.
JOHN: She was. Buddy, there’s something you should know about Kristen. I may have an idea of why she tried to contact you.
TATE: Why?
JOHN: A long time ago, back when Theresa was pregnant with you, Kristen had her kidnapped and had you taken from your mother and put inside of herself.
TATE: What? So wait, are you saying that my Mom isn’t my Mom, that I’m really Kristen DiMera’s son?
John put a hand on Tate’s shoulder.
JOHN: No! Not at all. You are Theresa’s son, and my grandson. Kristen may have given birth to you, but she is not your mother! She stole you and tried to make Theresa think you were dead. Or worse, forget she was even pregnant with you to begin with.
TATE: Thank god that didn’t work! What the hell is this lady’s deal?
STEVE: She’s a DiMera. Most, not all, but most of them do stuff like this on a regular basis.
TATE: That’s sick! Why would she think I’d want anything to do with her?
JOHN: My guess would be that she seems to think of herself as your mother. The same reason Vivian Alamain still thinks of me as her nephew.
TATE: Who?
JOHN: That’s a story for another time. The point is, kid, I’m glad you came here instead of going to meet with her. No good can come from that woman!
TATE: It sounds like it. How is she still allowed to walk around and do stuff like this, though? How is she not in jail?
STEVE: She got out of it.
JOHN: When Theresa finally got her memories back of being pregnant, she and several others, including myself, went to track Kristen down. By that time you were already born, and Kristen was hiding out with you in Italy. When we found her, there was a standoff, and she jumped out of a window, though she tried to make it look like she’d been pushed to frame Marlena, who she’s always had a grudge against. The fall didn’t kill her, and she hid underground until a governor who was under the control of Kristen’s cousin/brother, André DiMera, gave her a full pardon.
Tate took a deep breath.
JOHN: I know this is a lot to take in, kid, but I figure you’re old enough now to know the truth.
TATE: No, I’m glad I know. I wasn’t even considering going to meet this person, but now that I know, I’m even less likely to want to have anything to do with her.
JOHN: I’m glad to hear that.
John patted Tate on the back.
WILL & SONNY’S APARTMENT
ARI: I really wish I could come with you. When we go to camp in the summer, we’ll totally have to go back to that house together!
LIV: Definitely! And I’ll make sure to tell you everything about it once I get back!
ARI: Sounds good!
There was a knock on Ari’s bedroom door.
SONNY (from behind door): Olivia, your father’s here.
LIV: Be there in a sec!
Liv hurriedly put her things in her bag. She and Ari both got up and walked to the living room together.
LIV: Thanks so much for letting me stay for dinner!
SONNY: No problem. You’re always welcome, you know that.
Ari and Liv hugged.
ARI: Have fun!
LIV: I will! You too!
BRADY PUB
Max gave a customer his change while Chelsea wiped down the bar. The dinner rush was just about over. The phone rang. Chelsea picked it up.
CHELSEA: Brady Pub, how can I help you? Oh, hi. What’s…? Right now? Okay. All right, is it…I mean, do you think it would be awkward if we…okay. I’ll be there. Thank you so much. Bye.
Chelsea hung up.
MAX: Everything okay?
CHELSEA: We need to go. It’s time, Meadow’s having her baby!
MAX: Wow, okay! I will be right with you. Just let me check if Bo, Roman or Kayla are able to step in for a bit.
CHELSEA: That sounds good, I still need to grab a few things, myself.
Chelsea and Max kissed.
MAX: We’re about to meet Isaac’s little brother or sister.
Chelsea nodded and gave Max another quick kiss, before running upstairs to get her things. Max dialed a number in his phone.
