Chapter 41
S.S. BO BRADY
The pirates stared at Shawn-D.
MARIA: Go ahead. Ask your question and then join your wife and daughter.
Shawn-D walked over to Duck.
SHAWN-D: Why?
Duck smirked.
DUCK: Revenge.
SHAWN-D: Revenge for what?
DUCK: For what you did to my daughter, Gabrielle. You remember her?
SHAWN-D: Gabby?
DUCK: That's the one. On Tinda Lau, she fell in love with you, and you with her. But you lied to her. You went back to that Belle girl. You broke my daughter's heart. She fell to pieces. And then, one day, she drowned herself because she couldn't take it anymore. The way I see it, you murdered my daughter.
SHAWN-D: I...I cannot imagine what you must have felt. But, I also cannot take credit for what Gabby did. Whatever she did was her own choice. I am sorry that she is dead, but I did not cause that.
DUCK: You certainly did! And when I got out of jail and took to the sea, I vowed that I would find you and make you pay.
MARIA: That is long enough. Duck, you will come with us. As will you, Captain, commissioner, and detective.
Maria, Richard and Pete left, with Duck, Hope, Steve and Alexander in tow.
Meanwhile, in the Medical Bay, Kayla was looking over Claire. Belle was nearby. Gregor stood in the corner, watching them.
KAYLA: Well, her vitals seem to be normal. She may be a little dehydrated.
BELLE: That's good news, right?
KAYLA: It is. I'll start her on an IV to get her fluids up. But, there is something else.
BELLE: What?
Kayla leaned in closer.
KAYLA (whispering): I'm going to need him to step out of the room for a moment.
BELLE: Okay. I'll go with him, if you want. Why, what's going on?
KAYLA (whispering): I want to make sure that that horrible man didn't do anything...you know, to Claire.
Belle gapsed.
BELLE: Do you think he would have?
KAYLA: I don't know. But, it's best to check, and because of the sensitivity of the examination...
BELLE: I understand.
Kayla turned to Gregor.
KAYLA: Could you go outside, please?
GREGOR: You don't give me orders.
KAYLA: Only for five minutes. Please, I need to do an examination on my patient, and I cannot do it properly with you here.
GREGOR: The woman goes with me. We will be back here in five minutes, whether you're done or not.
BELLE: Fine by me.
Gregor and Belle walked out the door.
SEA'S FEAR
A short while later, Maria, her crew (minus Gregor), along with Hope, Steve and Alexander, had made their way to the pirate ship “Sea's Fear”. Maria and her pirates were standing court.
MARIA: Duck, you have been found guilty of breaking the sixth law of the Pirate Code of the Sea's Fear. For this, you must walk the plank.
Two of the pirates dragged Duck up to a long, wooden plank. Duck stepped up onto it.
MARIA: Do you have any last words?
DUCK: Only what I've been saying for the longest time. She deserved far worse, as do her parents.
MARIA: Very well. Then you shall...
HOPE: Wait!
Maria turned to Hope.
HOPE: It doesn't have to be this way. We can take him back to Salem and have him tried for kidnapping. Believe me, I have no positive feelings towards this man, but as Salem's Police Commissioner, it is my duty to uphold the law. As disgusting as this man is, even he deserves a trial.
MARIA: Your law has no jurisdiction out here, commissioner. We are not in Salem. The only law out here is that of the sea and the Pirate Code, which this man has broken. Therefore, Duck, you shall walk the plank!
The two pirates pushed Duck, who made his way down the plank. He looked back at them all, a look of disdain on his face. Then, one of the other pirates gave him a push, and Duck fell into the murky depths of the water. There was a moment's silence. Then, suddenly, Hope saw Maria go for her gun and point it at her.
MARIA: You will lead us back to your ship and give us all of your money and valuables.
