I hope after the Olympics Lucas & Adrienne get more screen time together and we can finally see more of their relationship while leading to the wedding and not this once a month stuff.

I think Adrienne didn't want Sonny taking sides between then either, I think she wants him to feel he can have a relationship with Justin and her, even with Lucas. What really happened, Adrienne if she were a different person probably given the animosity with Justin could have chosen to destroy things between father and son but that not her. I think despite the fact that all trust seems to be gone between her and Justin and other issues seem larger present she made the choose to be civil with her ex for the sake of her present Son, Sonny as well as her other three child (Alex, Joey and Vic) who we've never seen on screen.
When Justin first came back from Dubi, things were actual pretty strained with Justin. At the time Justin was pushing Sonny to choose Paul after Will had cheated on him, but Justin himself was a cheater. I think being away gave Sonny the time to forgive him father.
As for Justin, Sonny truly wants to see his mother happy, and he doesn't seem to have anything against Lucas. I think the issue is that Adrienne was vague enough for the sake of Sonny's relationship with Justin that some senses in trying to get her point across what she said and what she meant came across to two very different things. She implied having something with Lucas she never had with Justin... but it was never really further explained. I think the other part of the issue is Justin's behavior about not being given yet another chance by Adrienne as a result, I think Sonny seeing to very different things... Adrienne's trying to do the right thing, it's unclear what Justin is up to with his behavior but I think it muddy's the view for Sonny as a result. Justin's behavior still is unkind to Adrienne even if they found a way to be civil the animosity is clear and I think Sonny sees it but he doesn't understand it certainly not based on the vague explanation for his mother.
What Sonny lost, when Ben killed Will, he lost the chance to make things right when he cleared his head. So I think being in his mother's position, lack some knowledge of all the nasty things that went on between Adrienne and Justin he struggles to understand her lack of trying to move past the affair but in the end I think it the writing the failed because I think Adrienne could have explained things between with out going into details she didn't want to share with her son.
