It's hard to ask this question without spoiling anything that's coming up but I'm trying to keep the Catholic elements of Breaking Ties as realistic as possible and I have a couple of questions.
Are there specific prayers that Catholics pray when they are worried about someone? For example, is there a specific prayer that someone might say for a relative who is doing destructive things?
Also are there special prayers, readings, or vows said at Catholic weddings?
Thanks!

I went to catholic school and my husband was raised Catholic as well (I'm orthodox but pretty close just more strict than his church) They tend to use the Hail Mary prayer a lot especially when praying for someone or for after confession As for the weddings I found they use mostly Old Testament And I commonly notice the "love is patient, love is kind" etc We did a Catholic wedding in Ireland cuz that was basically our only choice if we wanted a church and they did a few readings to give mentions of special memories to those that have passed on ( grandparents and his little sister etc) They also picked 6 readers and the mothers did the offertory procession (they bring out communion for the priest to bless) If I think of anything else I will try and post Hope this helps

We were given a wedding booklet with several options for the readings. The numbers of readings may differ by diocese. I think we had two plus the gospel reading as we do at Sunday Mass. Secular music is not allowed during Mass even for weddings. The vows always include will you lovingly accept children and raise them in the Catholic faith. The many Catholic weddings I've been to have traditional vows rather than vows you write yourself. You may be able to write your own.
As far as prayers that varies per person. Some people pray to the Blessed Mother and others pray to saints and others pray to God. There are specific saints that you might pray to for certain types of help and intercession.

fluffysmom I think it does differ from diocese I never promised in church to raise m kids Catholic I didn't even deny that I wouldn't during the classes they made us take it with the priest we met with they knew well it wouldn't happen Also we had the option for our vows but we just used what ever they had We were told we got to pick the readings but we were here and he just decided It really depends on the area and the priest

Maybe there are different requirements in different countries. Part of our pre-Cana involved two all day classes including one all about Christian sexuality.

We did that as well through the arch diocese You could do night classes for several weeks or a two full days course

Thanks doolfan4life and fluffysmom. That helps a lot! Do Catholic weddings include ring bearers and flower girls?

We did have any because none of our close family or friends had young kids. The number of attendants is your choice. We had 5 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen.
